Advanced Manufacturing CNC MACHINE OPERATOR TRAINING The Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium OVERVIEW The CNC Machine Operator Training Program is a 12-week intensive non-credit training course designed to provide the knowledge and hands on skills necessary to prepare students for an entry level career in machining in a variety of manufacturing industries. WhEN: May 30, 2017 August 11, 2017 TIME: M F, 8:00 5:00, Foundational Skills from May 30th~June 23rd 7:30 4:00, Technical Schools from June 26th~August 11th COST: Grant Funded for eligible applicants LOCATION: Northern Essex, Riverwalk Campus, Lawrence, MA; Whittier Regional Vocational Technical School, Haverhill, Ma; Greater Lawrence Technical School, 57 River Rd, Andover, MA CERTIFICATION Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Machine Operator 1 Certification Exam, and will also receive an OSHA 10 Certificate, and Northern Essex Community College’s Advanced MFG Foundational Skills Certificate. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Complete the program in only 12 weeks to prepare for an entry-level career position as a CNC Machine Operator in manufacturing fields such as machine shops, parts manufacturers, metalworking machinery manufacturers, plastics products manufacturers, aerospace, and medical equipment manufacturers. CAREER READINESS The students will also be participating in a variety of Career Readiness sessions such as Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills, Industry Tours, and a job fair. PREREQUISITES Interview with a Career Development Coach or Career Center Case Manager, High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, completed TABE testing in math and reading at 8th grade or higher, CORI check required. FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS

The MFG Foundational Skills portion of the training will be held at Northern Essex Community College’sRiverwalk Campus, Lawrence, MA. This portion is 105 hours long, and includes: OSHAJSafety, MFGFundamentals, Quality, Six Sigma, Lean MFG, Basic Math, Machining Math, Computer Skills, Metrology,Inspection, Master CAM, and Technical Communication, and at the end of the whole program, the NIMS exam.

MACHINE LABAfter completing the MFG Foundational Skills portion of the training, the students will split into two groups:one group will go to Whittier Technical School, 115 Amesbury Line Rd, Haverhill, MA, and the other groupwill go to Greater Lawrence Technical School, 57 River Rd, Andover, MA for Machining Lab and NIMSpreparation. This portion of the program is 299 hours long which includes Blueprint & GDT, Machining Lab,online curriculum, and NIMS Preparation.

Do I need to take an admission test? You will take the TABE Assessment in Reading and Math and mustachieve grade level 8 or above.

I currently receive unemployment benefits. How will this affect the process? You must complete a Section30 application to notify MA Department of Unemployment Assistance Training Opportunities Program (TOP)that you intend to attend training and wish to continue to receive your unemployment benefits. The TOPapplication is available on your UI Online Account.
