General Information

Course DescriptionThis program features aninternational faculty giving a broadperspective to this comprehensiveprogram. Topics include endoscopicmanagement of sinus and nasaldisease, medical and surgicaltreatment of refractory chronic sinusdisease, treatment of nasal tumorsboth benign and malignant,septorhinoplasty, cosmetic surgeryof the nose and face, and thepathophysiology of chronicrhinosinusitis. Participants mayattend lectures only or actively par-ticipate in the laboratory dissection.

Course LearningObjectivesUpon conclusion of this program,participants should be able to:• Diagnose abnormalities on CT

scans of the sinuses.• Evaluate patients who have the

symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis.• Formulate a rationale for medical

and surgical treatment based onthe pathophysiology of chronicrhinosinusitis.

• Explain the concepts ofendoscopic sinus surgery.

• Describe the rationale given fordifferent types of sinus surgeryincluding conventional FESS,balloon dilation, MIST, andexternal approaches.

• Identify complications duringand after sinus surgery.

• Describe basic concepts ofseptoplasty.

• Describe basic concepts ofrhinoplasty.

• Describe basic concepts offunctional nasal surgery.

• Describe the anatomy of the nose.• Describe how to avoid

complications in rhinoplasty.
