Come ride with us! This course focuses on developing your mountain biking skills and techniques while spending three days riding world-class trails in the Fruita area. Get feedback from trained instructors to take your riding to the next level. All skill levels are welcome. Students can provide their own bike, or rentals are available through CMC. This class provides advanced-level training and knowledge in whitewater raft handling and water reading skills through direct experiences on select rivers. The course includes two in-person lessons on campus on on 4/1 & 4/8 (6-8:50pm) , two day-trips on local rivers on 4/4 & 4/5 (8a-6p each day) and a three-day overnight trip to the Dinosaur National Monument area, which leaves campus on 4/10 at 8a and returns 4/12 at 6p. Climbing Self-Rescue is the final course in a four-course series that begins with Top Rope Climbing (OUT-221), Sport Climbing (OUT-222) and Rock Climbing II (OUT-132). The class informs climbers how to confidently handle vertical rescue scenarios ranging from simple to complex in a two-person climbing team. Scenario-based instruction will cover technical lowers and raises of the injured climber, pick-offs, knot passes, and load transfers. This course does not teach First Aid but instead focuses on the technical skills necessary for a climbing party to extract an injured climber from a vertical setting. Ice Climbing I introduces technical (roped) ice climbing, including ice climbing technique, equipment selection, safety knots, belaying, climbing, rappelling, climbing safety and an introduction to ice climbing protection and anchors. The first day of the course (Friday, 1/10, 9a-6p) includes a half-day of indoor instruction at our Spring Valley campus' new climbing wall and a half-day in the field in the Redstone area. This class is designed for second-year Outdoor Education students and includes sessions on teaching skills, outdoor leadership, expedition planning, and risk management. In addition to the 45 hours of instructional time in the classroom, students will be required to spend 90 hours doing field internships. Course charges and fees are non-refundable. Sport Climbing is the second of a four-class series that begins with Top Rope Climbing (OUT-221) and continues with Rock Climbing II (OUT-132) and Climbing Self-Rescue (OUT-165). This class focuses on face climbing skills and leading bolt-protected sport routes. Topics include lead climbing and belaying, building and cleaning anchors, climbing technique and advanced sport climbing tactics. The class meets at our new state-of-the-art indoor climbing wall at the Spring Valley campus, and it runs from 6-9:50p every Tuesday and Thursday, 2/4-2/27. Course Charges and Fees are nonrefundable. REGISTRATION ACCUPLACER TESTINGIt’s important to us that you’re in the right class. Many courses require placement testing prior to enrollment. Accuplacer quickly assesses students in the skill areas of Reading, Writing and Math to determine proper placement into college-level courses. Students must call the front desk to reserve a spot for testing.
To view the Testing Calendar:1. Go to ColoradoMtn.edu and click on the Admissions tab 2. Select Apply–Get Started and scroll to the Placement Testing link
at the bottom of the page. Then click on the Calendar link to find a date that works for you!

DROPS & REFUNDSTo drop a class, students must fill out a Class Add/Drop form and submit it to any CMC location or login to WebAdvisor and drop online. To receive a refund, the class must be dropped by the refund date. Drop classes after the refund date listed in your syllabus will not receive a refund.
