Want to be a 4-H Trend Spotter? Firefly Watch
How do I join?
If you think this program sounds like it was made for you, please email [email protected] with your name, age, and a few sen-tences of why you would like to join.
Anything else I should know?
After one year of participation we will send you some free 4-H Gear. If we end up pro-ducing your idea, Jane Angelich, the Vice President of the 4-H Mall, will write a college admission letter of recommendation for you.
What are Trend Spotters?
4-H Trend Spotters are the next generation of style, fashion, and 4-H in their communi-ties. We want 4-H youth to be the eyes and ears of the 4-H Mall with your friends, family, and fellow club members.
What do I have to do?
The 4-H Mall is always striving to introduce amazing new products, and no one knows more about what 4-H'ers want than 4-H'ers themselves. All we need is for you to send us one product idea per month based on specific themes coming from our team. Product suggestions can be original ideas or existing products that you think would be cool with a clover on them. if we decided to make it, you will be involved in the design process from start to finish, and you'll get that product free to show off to your friends and family!
Remember spotting the first fire-flies of summer? Or seeing a fire-fly meadow or watching them from your cabin porch? Perhaps you even tried catching them in a ma-son jar? Observing fireflies is a magical summer activity. Did you know that many fireflies are disap-pearing? Firefly Watch combines an annual summer evening ritual with scientific research and helps scientists find out why fireflies are disappearing. Your 4-H club and 4-Hmembers can get involved in this project of the Museum of Sci-ence in Boston while learning about fireflies at https://legacy.mos.org/fireflywatch/.

ies have shown that the color of a food will
change how it tastes. For example, green
french fries taste “worse” than the normal
golden ones, despite the fact that the only
difference is their color. Taste as a sensa-
tion is really a concatenation of various
senses.
None of these tastes are elicited by a
single chemical. What this means is that
when something tastes “irony,” like water
emerging from a suburban labyrinth of
rusty pipes for example, we are not sens-
ing the iron with our tongues. The sensa-
tion of taste is actually a combination of
other factors like texture and most im-
portantly smell. When something tastes
like iron you are in reality smelling the
iron, which is then combined in your brain
into the “taste” of something. This also
happens with the other senses (which you

Sour – typically the taste of acids
