In four-man-play competition, all golfers play each hole, with the two best scores counting and the other two scores being discarded. The team of Jane Sullwold, Tai Anderson, Juanita Solano and Barbara Wood shot an overall net 128 to win the first flight. The team of Bev Blatt, Louise Eilhardt, Cheryl Saxton and Karen Walsh won the second flight by a narrow margin. The winning team shot a net 132, one stroke better than the team of Betsy Gammell, Betty Hatch and Angie Vaccarezza —because the team only had three players they used a blind draw to determine the fourth score — who scored a net 133. The team of Vivian Kang, Bonnie Kim, Jennifer Kim and Sonia Kwak finished in third place with a net 134. Yvonne Lee shot the closest ball to the hole in the closest-to- the-hole competion on the fourth hole. Her ball traveled within 3’ 8” of the hole. Although the team plans to be- gin training on the bay this week, it is not expected to join the Louis Vuitton Cup races until the semifi- nals Aug. 6. However, some Ameri- ca’s Cup challengers think even this plan maybe too ambitious. “It’s too hard to judge,” said Emirates Team New Zealand boss Grant Dalton. “It is a new boat and they have a new wing too.
