Dear Members & Friends,

Warm greetings from Sunny Aranda! I am pleased to share with you some updates at the Club.

The upgrading works at the Poolside Fitness & Weight Room are now completed. We have replaced two recumbent and upright bikes, and one adjustable exercise bench; and added one dual tower trainer and one leg press. We have also replaced the fl ooring, and the solar fi lm on the glass panels and added a new air con unit to enhance the comfort and ambience of the workout stations. A refreshed Poolside Fitness & Weight Room awaits your exercise regime and enjoyment.

The Membership Department has recently collaborated with 4 new partners to offer more members-only privileges for you. They are Body Wellness (A Beauty Hub specializing in Body Massage, Face Spa & Therapeutic Personalized Program), The History of Whoo (Korea’s Luxury Skincare), Sentosa (Places of attractions) and Q&M Dental. Do check out our Club News section for more information on these special privileges. We will continue to seek more reciprocal partnerships to give your membership even more privileges.

With the festive season around the corner, we have specially tailored a 3 Days 2 Nights Executive Suite package for you and your loved ones to spend time together and enjoy the facilities at and around Aranda. For your festive planning and reservation of our suites, do check out more details on Page 7. Have an enjoyable celebration at our Executive Suites this festive season!

In the continuous effort to engage our members, the Club will be organizing our inaugural Members’ Night on Friday 18 November 2016. This promises to be a night of entertainment and fun with lots of food, drinks, games and lucky draws. And each participant will also receive an exclusive door gift. Do look out for more details on Page 8. We look forward to your active participation in this event.

The 3rd ACC & OCC Bowling Championship was held on 17 July 2016. It was another great success with 108 bowlers (36 teams) competing for the individual and team events. All our bowlers had an enjoyable time in this competitive but fun-fi lled match. Three cheers to all bowlers!

During the month of August 2016, as part of our National Day celebrations, the Club carried out promotions and Lucky Draw for members who patronised the Club’s F&B outlets; namely Ten Dollar Club, Ban Heng, Satay @ Aranda as well as booking of Executive Suites. A total of ten winners walked away with TVs, NTUC FairPrice Vouchers and other attractive prizes.

The Club’s cycling sports interest group, GP Riders once again cycled for a good cause at the recent Ride for Rations 2016. A total of 170 riders cycled 240km from Malacca back to Singapore over two days from 26 to 28 of August. Our GP Riders supported the event, not only as riders but as cycling marshals and support crews. This annual event in its 6th iteration was organized by Bike Aid Singapore to raise funds for the Sunlove Abode for the Intellectually Infi rmed. We are pleased to announce that the event raised a total of $340,000. This fund will help provide monthly rations for needy families at Sunlove Marsiling, Hougang and Chai Chee. Our GP Riders also actively participate in the monthly distribution on every last Saturday and Sunday of the month.

Our S&R activities, especially our shorts trips to neighbouring countries, seminars and talks continue to be popular among our members. The Club will therefore organise more of such activities and expand our repertoire to provide more variety and interest for our members. In the coming year, the team at Aranda will be introducing a new initiative, the “Knowing our Singapore Series”, which will bring our members and their families to both iconic places and interesting nooks and corners of Singapore. We will be jointly organising this series with our sister club, Orchid Country Club. Watch out for more details as we work together to bring you even more educational and adventurous programmes. In the coming festive season, you may wish to drop by the Jackpot Aces to try your winning hands on the Jackpot Fruit Machines; and be rewarded with attractive cash winnings in our Christmas Santa Claus and New Year Mystery Prizes!

Finally as we approach the year-end and bid adieus to 2016, I would like to wish each and every one of you Happy Deepavali, a Joyous Christmas and a Blissful & Peaceful New Year 2017.

Cleaners’ Appreciation Day 13 July 2016, Wednesday

In support of the “Appreciating U” Movement, the Club Management and staff held an appreciation lunch for 25 unsung heroes (cleaners and security offi cers) at Ten Dollar Club (Family KTV). The attendees enjoyed a wonderful buff et spread, great company and karaoke session. In appreciation of their contribution, our workers were also presented with a token of appreciation from the Management. And we celebrated the birthdays of the July babies!

Personal grooming is all about being able to present yourself in the best possible way. It shows people what you think of yourself. Proper grooming conveys the image of confi dence and allows people to pay attention to you, listen to what you are saying and to know who you are. This workshop will focus on the importance of image for ladies and how proper grooming can make a difference. Conducted by Ms. Lois Tong, certifi ed style and image consultant from Hong Kong’s leading image consultant academy, Colour Me Beautiful, participants will learn all about the various aspects of grooming that will create the best image for themselves. Everyone will receive goodie bags.

The practice of wine tasting is as old as its production. It is the sensory examination and evaluation of wine to describe in ‘wine-speak’ the range of perceived fl avors, aromas and the general characteristics of wine.

Spend an evening with William Seah, an internationally certifi ed wine and spirit specialist. He will share the basics of wines and the art of pairing wine and food. Limited seats are available so don’t miss this!

The 3rd ACC & OCC Bowling Championship, held at Orchid Bowl @ OCC was a huge success as we saw a turnout of 108 bowlers, taking up all the 36 lanes. This exciting event witnessed our bowlers competing for the Team & Individual Championship as well as the High Games Men & Ladies Series. We also introduced a special award “Best Sportsman” to encourage our bowlers and build up their interest. Great camaraderie was built during the championship and makan session. Ride For Ration: Malacca – Batu Pahat – Singapore27 & 28 August 2016, Saturday & Sunday

The 6th edition of Ride for Rations held across two days, 27 & 28 August 2016, saw 170 cyclists of different abilities riding 240km from Malacca to Batu Pahat and back to Singapore. This year Aranda Country Club was a Silver Sponsor and Team GP Riders including our Acting General Manager, Ms Toh Poh Kuan, once again played our part as cyclists, cycling marshals and support crews for the success of this event. The event raised a total of $340,000 and this amount will be used to provide aid to 320 socio-economically, intellectually and physically challenged families registered with the Sunlove-Marsiling Neighbourhood Link.

2D1N Kukup Kelong Trip11 & 12 June 2016 (Saturday & Sunday)

3D2N Sitiawan & Ipoh Trip 18 to 20 June 2016 (Saturday to Monday)

25 members and their families joined us on a 2D1N getaway to Kukup during the June School Holiday. The enthusiastic group visited the fi shing village where they bought many local dried seafood products. Our members also engaged in fun and exciting activities such as Mahjong, Karaoke etc in their resort. What’s more? During the night, they also had the opportunity to release Sky Lanterns too. The main highlight of the trip was to savor on the fresh seafood meal @ Kukup. It was fun fi lled weekend spent for our members.

The 3D2N trip to Sitiawan & Ipoh was full of activities! Our members visited several places of interest such as the famous temples Tua Pek Kong Temple, Perak Cave Temple and Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple. Other attractions included the Charcoal Factory and Port Weld KTM. Members also embarked on a boat ride to visit a fi shing village. The best part of the boat ride was watching the eagles at sunset! And of course, no trip is complete without scrumptious meals and shopping!

10 members signed up for our educational talk on will writing. The informative talk was highly benefi cial as members learned the consequences of not having a will. Members were also informed of the factors to consider before penning a will. It is never too early to plan for the future as life is full of uncertainty. Keep a look out for our next talk on will writing!

It’s the annual durian season again! 20 avid durian lovers signed up for our 1 Day Durian Trip as they satisfi ed their love for the King of the Fruits with a buffet durian feast. Of course, no trip is completed without a great shopping spree and local seafood meal in JB. It was indeed a satisfying day for all!

It was a relaxing 2D1N trip for our durian connoisseurs! The trip began with a rejuvenating massage for all followed by shopping for dried seafood products. Members had a great time mingling with one another during the karaoke session and playing with the sparkle sticks. They also reveled together during the sumptuous durian spread, enjoying the creamy fl esh before heading back home.

Little Chef @ Work 20 August 2016 (Saturday)

It was a hands-on skincare workshop for 10 pretty Aranda ladies. The instructors shared with our members on how to take good care of their skin, to identify their skin type and also how to buy suitable skincare products. At the end of the workshop, the ladies were equipped with the essential steps to healthy fl awless skin. Everyone deserves to be just as beautiful on the outside as they do on the inside. Stay tuned for our next skincare workshop!

Held at Satay @ Aranda, the little chefs had a fun time stirring, whisking and decorating their cupcakes. The little ones whipped up scrumptious Nutella Steam Cupcakes with their moms and dads! The interactive and step-by-step class was able to capture the attention of our little chefs and ignite their creativity. Look out for our next culinary class for your budding chefs!
