Last week eight teams played six rounds. We had a play off for second and third places with some of us a long way behind in the final point scores. We squeezed in our Annual General Meeting at the beginning of the session. We voted in Eric Haines as President, John Parsell as Vice President, G J Lee as Treasurer, Dave Randall as Secretary and Michele Blommestein as a committee member. Thanks to all of them for offering their services and thank you to Burwood RSL Club Directors Graham Glover and Kevin Brady for participating as returning officers.

We have room for more players of all skill levels. If you like to play darts come and meet us at one of our relaxed and friendly sessions in the Sports Lounge from 7:45 on Friday evenings.

Cheers, Dave.

The grand final of the N.S.W R.S.L single teams handicap Billiards competition is to be played at North Ryde R.S.L on Wednesday 11/11/2015 where the Burwood boyz will take on the well handicapped Smithfield 2 team. We wish the team all the best of luck. May have the result of the match in late breaking news.

The Col Sheehan / John Freeman Burwood / Petersham friendship trophy snooker match was held at Burwood R.S.L on Sunday 8th November. A tad disappointing that more Burwood R.S.L snooker club members did not show up to play. Those who did show enjoyed the friendly competition where Petersham R.S.L were a little to good on the day .Led by their captain Frazer Palmer Petersham won 7 frames to 3. Frazer went onto thank Burwood R.S.L for putting on the light refreshments & the snooker club for the drinks that were provided during & after the matches.

Last Thursday 05/11/2015 social handicap snooker semi finals were made up of the usual suspects with the exception being Azhait. Unfortunately for Azhait he was up against Adwin who has been one the snooker club’s most consistent players this year. Adwin went on to defeat Azhait. Col Sheehan fresh from the trip to Melbourne where he played for the N.S.W side which lost to the Victorians in the snooker portion of the contest. Vincent who has been playing good snooker was able to beat a gallant Col. Vincent continued his good form in to the final against Adwin & went on to win in a good match. Members wishing to play in our friendly Thursday night social handicap snooker competition all you have to do is go down to the Burwood R.S.L sport’s bar prior to 7.15 as the competition starts at 7.30 pm & have your name placed on the list & for only $ 2 you can vie for the wish cards. Late comers may miss out on playing once the draw is done. Members please make an effort to be on time as it makes it easier on who ever is running the comp.

Bowlers and Members,

On Sunday 6th December the Indoor Bowls Christmas Dinner will be held at 6:30pm. Cost for Members is $10 and Guests $45. Please add your name on the sheet provided on the notice board by the Friday 27th November at 7pm and enjoy the rest of the evening with a good meal and drinks. Last Thursday 5th the usual friendly night of bowls was played. We all heard everyone enjoy themselves and be entertained. The winners were Mena, Frank, Maria Cat and Dominic, well done team.

Last Monday we continued the Jack Prosser Competition with 2 more weeks remaining to complete and to achieve the winning glory. All teams playing were impressive and enjoyed themselves. May the best deserving team win the trophy.Got to be Up

The annual weekend away which looked dangerously like being a total washout early in the week began under clear skies at The Springs Golf Club on Friday morning - a select band of diehards assembling at this Peats Ridge layout hoping the golfing gods would be kind to them. Well the golfing gods ended up being the least of their troubles as by the 8th hole everyone (except Chris Hurley - damn that imminent hip operation!!) were running for the club house as the mother of all storms blew in bringing with it thunder and lightning, hail and just ‘big ole fat’ ugly rain. Bruce Macleay, having made the, one can only imagine, diabolical car trip up with his son Alan, huddled in the corner out of the rain - this would be the only respite he would get from Alan all weekend. Saturday and once again the sun was out at Shelly Beach as the full compliment of players arrived for a 1pm tee-off.Several players rose to the occasion on this beautiful course - Paul Linnane winning the day with 38 points, Tony Estevez found some form with 37 and Hugo Penz also good with 36. But once again the rain came - this time much later in the afternoon. Luckily Alan Macleay was on hand to provide much needed drainage around the 18th green otherwise someone may have been washed away. Thanks Alan. The evening’s festivities were soured a little when it was discovered persons unknown had broken into one of the rooms during the afternoon and stolen Harold Roberts Ipad and his favourite shirt. Tony Estevez’s ‘Armani’ pyjama set was thankfully left untouched. Unlike the previous evening, with the club footing the food bill Alan Macleay ate like a horse. Sunday and this water logged group travelled out to Toukley Golf Club under threatening skies which never really delivered in the end. The Spierewka-Hurley juggernaut which had been denied carts the first 2 days because of the soft conditions were a different proposition on wheels. Tony Spiewewka came good with 49 points (hmmm...) to win the day while faithful side-kick Chris Hurley played well scoring 40. Harold Roberts had a good day also with 37. Paul Linnane was the overall winner on the weekend with a combined score of 69. Thanks to Miro Cooper who largely organised this shindig and everyone else who chipped in - somehow we got 2 rounds in on a pretty dreary weekend of weather. Our next game is on Nov 22 at Dunheved - 6.35am tee-off and everyone is welcome to come along.Further info can be found by calling Paul Linnane 0432 367596 or Harold Roberts 0410 411425. Chopper

Two Ladies Talking in Heaven1st Woman: Hi! My name is Wanda. 2nd Woman: Hi! I’m Sylvia. How’d you die?1st Woman: I froze to death2nd Woman: How horrible!1st Woman: It wasn’t so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm and sleepy and finally died a peaceful death. What about you?2nd Woman: i died of a massive heart attach. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I cam home early to catch him in the act but instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV.1st Woman: So, what happened? 2nd Woman: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched and down in the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere and finally, I became so exhausted that I just kneeled over with a heart attack and died. 1st Woman: Too bad you didn’t look in the freezer - we’d both still be alive!
