Power supply at peak load is always inefcient and expensive. Capacity of electrical installation needs to cater for the peak load. Hence there are benets in reducing the peak load - reduce the use of less efcient generator, defer the transmission and distribution system upgrading, reduce the electricity tariff and nally, the reduction of CO2 emission. This presentation shows the experience in using a smart power control for peak load compensation in one of the buildings in Hong Kong Science Park.

Dr Wong is the Head of Facility Management in Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. He is responsible for facility management, utilisation and energy management.

Dr Wong graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic in Electrical Engineering in 1984 and received the Doctor of Engineering from the same University in 2006. He worked in the Hong Kong Electric Co., ACT Electricity & Water Authority (Australia), CUHK and HKU in power system planning and facility management.
