ADVANCED CLASSIFICATION & CATALOGINGCome unravel the mystery of the Dewey (classification) numbers and the Sears (cataloging) subject headings on media in order to have the correct placement. Explore helps available for making choices in classification. This conference is specifically planned for librarians who have experience in classifying and subject cataloging.

BEGINNING CLASSIFICATION & CATALOGINGHow do we arrange media and how do we find it? All team members need a working knowledge of classification and subject cataloging to be able to shelve or locate books and other media and to assist customers in finding media in the library.

BOOK REPAIR The “warm fuzzy” of the library ministry is restoring to usefulness a loved and worn book. Come experience this hands-on conference and bring your next repair project.

CELEBRATING YOUR CHURCH HISTORY Your church’s unique story is important and interesting. This course introduces strategies for promoting church history through anniversary celebrations, Baptist heritage Sundays, displays and exhibits, historical markers, flags and banners, cornerstones, time capsules, and more. Learn how to “celebrate” often, not just on special occasions!

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENTQuality or quantity, what to keep or pitch, censorship or Christian values? Elements that help establish and maintain the collection will be evaluated during this session.

COLLECTING YOUR CHURCH HISTORYMaking sure your church’s story will be around for generations to follow doesn’t just “happen”; it takes planning and acting on those plans. Learn the types of church records that should be kept and for how long.

CONCOURSE, CONTINUED!Explore cataloging media, circulating media, generating, reviewing and printing reports, eZcat, WebOPAC -- as time and your needs permit!

CONCOURSE Q & ADo you have questions about Concourse or library automation? Come with your list and we will look for answers!

COPYRIGHT: ARE YOU DOING COPY WRONG?Church librarians must be informed about the media in the library—checking out and showing DVDs outside the home, making copies from one format to another, deleting phrases and scenes, copying materials, etc. Librarians can be of help to the church in keeping leaders informed about copyright regulations. Discussion and brochures will be available for both CVLI and CCLI.

DISCIPLE MAKINGHow to use the 21st century marketing and management techniques to obey the Great Commission. Purposeful strategies will be revealed for church library ministries to reach and support the church’s leaders, teachers, missions, individuals, and groups.

EBOOKS AND THE CHURCH LIBRARYWhat are eBooks? What are the readers on which they can be read? What costs are involved if provided through the church library? What is the Internet requirements needed for circulation? What are the pros and

cons for church libraries providing eBooks? Where can one get free eBooks for their readers? These are some of the discussion questions.

GETTING TO KNOW CONCOURSE Take a look at the flowchart screens to see the many functions of Concourse and how to access them quickly. See examples of data entry screens for different media formats.

INFORMATION RESOURCES FOR LIBRARIANSLibrarians don’t need to know everything—they just need to know where to find the information! This session will introduce participants to many different web sites helpful to librarians.

PRESERVING YOUR CHURCH HISTORYLearn how to organize your church’s story for the next generation. See the various actions and materials necessary for long term records preservation.

PROCESSING MEDIAExamine processed items and discuss procedures needed to get books, audio books, DVDs and other items ready to circulate! Hands-on activities! Questions welcome!
