Application for 2019-2020 CJHS Spirit Squad Tryouts

Tryouts are Thursday, July 9, 2020, in the CHS Gym. Students will be at CHS by NO LATER THAN 9:15. Tryouts will be from 9 AM – 12 PM. Students must pass any four courses with an overall “C” average to be eligible to try out. EVERYONE must wear a plain red shirt and plain black shorts. Please see the Tryout Information sheet for more specific information regarding tryouts.

Students interested in trying out for being a 7th or 8th grade cheerleader should fill out the form below. All four forms in this packet must be returned to the CJHS office at 5:00 PM OR emailed to [email protected] BY 11:59 on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. If the forms are not filled out and returned by this time, you will not be able to tryout. Also, you must have a physical on file in order to tryout or participate in any clinics. Please bring proof of your updated physical to the CJHS office or email to [email protected] by June 23, 2020 as well.

**A minimum overall grade of 70 is required. This comes from the average of your four major courses (math, science, english, and history). Failure to produce a passing grade will result in dismissal from

tryouts or dismissal from the squad.

CJHS Spirit Squad Tryout Information 2020-2021

for Upcoming 7th and 8th Graders Any Clinton Public School District student or student pre-enrolled in the Clinton Public School District, in grades 6-7, may sign up to try out for the CJHS Spirit Squad starting June 9. The last day to turn in packets is Tuesday,June 23, 2020. In order to be considered for tryouts, candidates will turn in the Application form, Tryout Information form, Emergency form, and the Parent Consent form in the main office at CJHS. When the application is submitted, a signature must be provided ensuring that the application was turned in to the office. Permission forms MUST be turned in at the time of sign-ups in order to be considered for tryouts. Girls must have a current physical on file BY June 23, when the packets are due. This can also be emailed to [email protected] OR brought to CJHS by 5 PM on June 23. There is a CPSD physical date held at Clinton HIGH School gym on Tuesday, June 16 from 1-5 for $10 for anyone needed to get a physical. Members of the CJHS Spirit Squad, should be prepared to spend some type of payment for uniforms. We are not sure what costs will be at this point, but we will let yall know as soon as we do! Below is a list of important dates for tryouts. Clinics will be online through Zoom, so make sure to have access to Zoom July 6-8! Tuesday, June 9 - Tuesday, June 23 by 11:59 P.M.—Sign-ups in the CJHS main office. Remember all signed forms must be turned in at this time. Tuesday, June 9- June 23 at 11:59 PM- Online on the CJHS website—MANDATORY meeting for prospective cheerleaders and their parents. The video will be on CJHS webpage, and there will be a google form stating that the video was viewed. Per board policy, at least one parent/legal guardian must sign the form online to sign “attendance” to this meeting. The cheer candidate does not have to attend, but are encouraged to watch the video online. Candidates will not be allowed to try out if these requirements are not met. Monday - Wednesday, July 6-8 (TIMES TBD) Practice Clinic—CHS Seniors will work with prospective cheerleaders to review the dance/cheer. This will be through a zoom meeting, and a sponsor will be on each meeting.

Thursday, July 9 (9 AM – 12 PM) Official CJHS Spirit Squad Tryouts at Clinton High School—Tryouts will begin at 9 for upcoming 7th AND 8th graders Please enter the doors by the front doors at the High School. Doors will open at 9:00 A.M. for upcoming 7th and 8th graders and locked at 9:15 A.M. If you are not in the building when the doors are locked, you will not be allowed to try out. Also, once tryouts have begun, no one will be allowed to go to the restroom or leave the holding room for ANY reason. PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INSIDE THE SCHOOL THE DAY OF TRYOUTS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Students will be dismissed immediately to go home after they tryout. The results of the tryouts will be posted on the CJHS Cheer website on Friday evening after 8:00 PM. ALL STUDENTS TRYING OUT FOR CHEERLEADING MUST WEAR A PLAIN RED T-SHIRT WITH SHORT SLEEVES (NO TANK TOP, SPAGHETTI STRAPS, ETC.) AND PLAIN BLACK SHORTS (NO WORDS, PICTURES, ETC.) If a student has any markings at all on their shorts or shirt, they will not be permitted to try out. The student’s undergarments cannot be exposed. A student may wear a ribbon in her hair only if it is either a solid red or a solid black ribbon. If a student does not come to tryouts dressed appropriately, she will not be permitted in to the building. There will be absolutely no sharing/swapping clothes or accessories once inside the building. Do not bring any purses, bags, or cell phones because you will not be allowed to re-enter the building after you exit your tryout.
