CLINTON – The 4th Annual National Brain Tumor Society Nature Walk will occur on September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the northern pavilion (Chautauqua Area), Weldon Springs State Recreation Area east of Clinton, IL. The purpose of the Nature Walk is to raise funds and awareness for brain tumor research and to honor all who are suffering from, or have suffered the devastating effects of a brain tumor. The goal of the event is to raise $5,000 for the National Brain Tumor Society. Organizer Lauren Thompson Johnson started the nature walk fundraiser in 2016 in honor of her mother Carol Thompson, who died in 2015 from glioblastoma malforma (GBM), the most aggressive and deadliest form of all brain tumors. It is a natural fit to have it at Weldon Springs, where Carol Thompson spent three decades bringing nature and education together in the same setting, first as a volunteer then employed as Weldon Spring’s first park interpreter. Her achievements include getting the one room Union Schoolhouse relocated to Weldon Springs, the Take Pride in America Award, presented by the President of the United States of America, and a "Those Who Excel” community volunteer award. Many local residents experienced as schoolchildren her passion for nature. Registration is at the pavilion on September 7th between 10:00-11:00 a.m. A suggested donation of $10 is requested in order to participate in the walk and activities; the quarter mile nature walk begins at 11:00 a.m. All ages are welcomed, as well as leashed dogs. After the walk there will be a drawing for donated items and a bounce house for kids. Sponsors of this year’s event include AMVETS Post 14, K&K Construction, Baum Chevrolet Buick, and State Farm agent Nate Ennis. For details on event activities and offerings, please call, text or email Lauren Johnson (217-622-8294 or [email protected]) or Norman Emery (703-674-6828 or [email protected]).

Why do I need a prosperity plan?A solution based prosperity plan addresses all aspects of your financial picture. Whether its investment management, estate planning, retirement planning or fiduciary management, you need an investment management group that has a deep understanding of the risk that may exist in your financial plan.

What should be included in my prosperity plan? There are eight clear aspects of a successful prosperity plan. We’ve identified and expanded on each of them below.

Planning (Estate, Cash Flow, Retirement)In this section, consider tax, estate, cash flow and retirement planning. Assess your income needs after retirement. Seek ways to make your money work for you and the next generation. Review your liability risks. Create a plan for your financial legacy today and after you are gone.

Investment Risk ManagementLook for professional investment strategists that are focused on your investment goals and plan. Do you know what you are currently risking? Consider a firm that puts risk first, and return second.

Eight Components of a Successful Prosperity Plan and Why it’s Important

f i r s t n b t c . c o m ( 2 1 7 ) 9 3 5 - 2 1 4 8

Today’s financial world can be filled with questions. Within each family, unique circumstances and risks exist. It’s important to think about your family’s entire picture along with thinking about past and future generations.

f i r s t n b t c . c o m ( 2 1 7 ) 9 3 5 - 2 1 4 8Eight Components of a Successful Prosperity Plan and Why it’s Important

Business/Succession PlanningEstablish a succession plan for your business. How do you want to protect your family business/farm from estate taxes or liquidation at the time of your death? You might need to plan for your business liquidation and income needed after the liquidation.

Impartiality & Family HarmonyConsider a corporate trustee, someone who is able to administer your trust from a business point of view. As a neutral third party, they are able to treat all family members equitable and by the terms of the trust.

ContinuityWhen a family member is appointed trustee, can you ensure that the administration of that trust continues in the event of incapacity or death? A corporate fiduciary can assure continuity with administration of your trust no matter what the circumstance.

Accounting & Record KeepingLook for a firm that is required by regulation to provide accurate and timely record keeping to all beneficiaries of a trust. A personal family member

may or may not have the capacity to provide up to date accounting and record keeping as requested. A firm will use industry specific software to provide the most accurate and up to date information.

Experienced ProfessionalsFind a group with experienced professionals. Seek a wealth management firm that’s skill sets include on staff attorneys, CFP, Investment professionals and operational experts to ensure you have access to resources and knowledge as needed for all your fiduciary needs.

Established Professional NetworkWho is on your personal board of directors? Do you have the right team of experts gathered for all of your needs? Identify a team now that can help you in the future and help you plan ahead.

We want to be your partner in creating a plan that secures and empowers your financial prosperity, while giving you the ability to care for your family today and for generations to come. Contact Matt Riley to schedule your prosperity planning meeting or visit our website.

on Tuesday, October 22, from 4 to 6p.m.

This will be held in the station’s Training Building located at

8401 Power Road, Clinton, IL., about six miles east of the

city. The Training Building is on the south side of Highway

54 across from the plant (see map).

The station leadership team and others will be on hand to

answer questions about how we generate safe, reliable,

low-cost energy for the community.

Guests will be provided general information about

operations, environmental awareness, and safety in

nuclear power. There will also be refreshments and give

away items.

A highlight of the open house will allow visitors the chance

to see the plant’s control room simulator, which is an exact

replica of the real thing!

Due to security restrictions, the open house will be limited

to the Training Building, and will not include a tour inside

the power station.
