The Journey: Across India

• Chennai to Delhi• Stopping in major metros, smaller

cities, and rural communities– Chennai, Vellore, Bangalore,

Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Goa, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur, Delhi

• Travelling 200 km/day in solar plug-in electric cars plus solar-biodiesel bus

• Starting January 5 in Chennai and ending February 4 in Delhi

The Vehicles: Plug-In Solar Electric Cars

• REVA, Bangalore-based electric car manufacturer

• Plug-in electric vehicles, with integrated solar panels to meet additional power demand

• Newest lithium ion technology will be used

• Drives 200 km on full charge, 6 hrs of charging

• Will run on biodiesel and straight vegetable oil

• Will be covered in smart solar technology to power all tech equipment (computers, video cameras, phones)

The Core Team

• Alexis Ringwald: Alexis Ringwald graduated from Yale University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Environmental Management, and arrived in India on a Fulbright Fellowship studying renewable energy with Dr. RK Pachauri as her adviser. Her Fulbright report, Renewable Energy Trends in India, was published by the Center for Social Markets. She is a co-founder of Valence Energy.

• Caroline Howe: Caroline Howe graduated from Yale College in Mechanical & Environmental Engineering in 2007, with a focus on climate change and Yale’s campus sustainabilty. She has worked on climate change projects in Central America, West Africa, Australia, Southeast Asia, and has been living in India since 2007. She is currently coordinating the Climate Solutions Project.

• Deepanjali Gupta: IYCN co-founder Deepa Gupta is currently studying bachelor of business at UTS. She has been the Indian Coordinator for the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), and she has also been driving her university to purchase clean energy and integrate sustainability in curricula.

• Kartikeya Singh: Kartik is a graduate of Furman University in sustainable development. Co-founder and an Executive Director of IYCN, he has launched the blog "What's with the Climate?” as a means to connect youth voices across South Asia and was the only Indian youth representative at the UNFCCC in Bali

More of The Team• Abhijit Parashar: Co-founder of ‘The Green IIT Initiative’ (deltaclimate.com), Abhijit Parashar works on

green technology and climate change related issues, and has several international publications in climate change and energy efficiency, as well as two patents pending in renewable energy. Having graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 2007 with the Best BTP medal in Industrial Engineering, Abhijit is currently doing a Masters in business at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

• Alark Saxena: Alark is a PhD student at Yale University School of Forestry & Environmental Studies with a focus on climate change and disaster management. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Forest Management and finished his Masters in Environmental Management at Yale in 2007, and spent the past year as the Director of the Disaster Risk Reduction Initiative at the Yale Global Institute for Sustainable Forestry.

• Archana Devar: Archana Devar has been working for New Ventures India at the Confederation of Indian Industries Green Business Center in Hyderabad, where she helped incubate and support new clean tech companies to facilitate investment. She has been working as the Pune coordinator for IYCN and will be working with Rio Energy in Bangalore to support hydropower development in Karnataka.

• Bhavna Bahl: Bhavna has a Bachelors in Economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce and MSc in Economics and Finance from Warwick Business School, UK. She is passionate about topics related to climate change, carbon markets, renewable energy, and recently set up B2 Advisory Services with an intent to provide wide ranging/ need based consultancy services to small scale businesses.

• Dhruv Sanghavi: Dhruv is an environmental lawyer with Nishith Desai Associates in Bombay, where he advises multinational companies on environmental law and tax policy. He is the Bombay coordinator for IYCN, and has been driving connections between arts and environmental communications.

More of The Team• Ekta Kothari: Ekta Kothari is a film maker. She recently finished a course in television

direction from the Film and Television Institute of India, completing graduation in communication from Christ College, Bangalore. She is currently working with a grassroots initiative in Kolkata called Switch ON, helping in coordinating their art events.

• Pranav Mehta: Pranav is a CNG crusader, and solar and renewable energy project promoter and consultant. He is the CEO of Global India Energy Solutions and Director [India Operations] of the Space Island Group Inc. California, USA. In addition, he is Vice President of the CNG Association of India and Director of Gadhia Solar.

• Raghuvamshi Surikuchi: Raghuvamshi Surikuchi is 22 and working towards a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute, after his education at the University of Auckland, and spending most of his life in Mombasa, Kenya. He believes education and awareness are the only means of spreading information about climate change.

• Seva Fumoux: M.A. in American Studies from France and PGCE from Oxford University. 5 years community projects and international teaching experience in Liberal Arts and Languages (primary to university level). Currently directing environment and renewable energy focused activities of India-based CleanStar Trust.

• Siddharth Desai: Siddharth has a M.S. in Environmental Engienering and Science from Stanford. He currently works with Conergy on solar PV applications and is interested in exploring synergies between water and energy.

• Sagun Saxena: Sagun Saxena trained as a chemical engineer at the University of California at Berkeley focusing on BioGas production and after 8 years of international consulting & project management experience, he co-founded CleanStar Energy Solutions, a clean energy company that utilizes unproductive land for growing jatropha and other biofuels for fuel.
