price and have confirmed that the price will increase from January 2017. The cost per tonne CO2 has increased from £12 to

m The CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) is a mandatory UK scheme aimed at improving energy efficiency and cutting CO2

emissions in large public and private sector organisations.

m Qualification for the scheme is based on how much qualifying electricity a group consumes during a set qualification period.

Any energy covered by a CCA is excluded during qualification assessment.

m Participants of the CRC are required to monitor their energy use, to report each year, and to surrender allowances equal to

CO2 emissions.

If Company X had not entered the CCA scheme, the entire of the group would be mandated to participate in the Carbon

Reduction Commitment (CRC) Scheme. CRC emissions are charged at the below rates:
