ArthritisArthritis is a disease that effects the joints of the body.

Joints become swollen and stiff.

It can be very painful.

It often develops in older people.

There are no known ways to lower the risk of getting the disease.

People with this disease have to monitor how much sugar is in their blood.

Eating a healthy diet, exercising, and notbecoming overweight are ways to lower therisk of getting this disease.

AsthmaAsthma is a disease where the air passages to the lungs become narrow and clogged with mucus.

When a person has asthma they can’t breathe normally.

Asthma is often caused by allergies or by exercising too hard.

Coughing and wheezing are common during an asthma attack.

An inhaler full of medicine is usually used to open the airways.

The only way to lower risk is to avoid things you’re allergic to and stay away from smoke and polluted air.

A person can lower the risk of Heart Disease by eating healthy foods, exercising, staying in shape, and not smoking.

Cerebral PalsyCerebral palsy is a disease that is caused by damage to the brain.

The damage occurs before or during birth, or possibly in the first few years of life.

A person with this disease has a loss of muscle control that can be mild or severe.

This disease often causes seizures and learning disabilities.
