**Optional essays available. DU does not require essays. For the American Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting

Literature and English Literature exams, some universities do require that optional essays be selected in order to

achieve 3 college credits. These essays require an additional $10.00 fee to be paid with credit card over the phone to

CLEP. You will do this while in the Test Center. Then a 1.5 hour appointment will be scheduled once the Testing Center

receives the essay. Please check with your university to verify their requirements for credit.

The College Composition Modular does not require an additional fee for the essay. The essay option for this exam is also

worth an additional 3 credits with a recommended credit granting score of 50 for combined objective and essay. Rev. 6/27/2012
