Geek/Nerd = collector and follower of popular culture memorabilia and brands across Action Figures, Toys, Movies, TV, Video Games and Manga & Anime.

“Bill Gates famously said, "Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one." But we've gone well beyond that point by actually becoming nerds ourselves, and almost universally. In only about twenty years — and probably closer to ten — geek culture has gone from the fringes of society to dominating and even defining pop culture.” Esquire

Why?

• “Geeks” currently spend upwards of $80 billion a year creating and expanding their collections globally and interacting with their chosen popular culture brands and franchises.

• Our research points at the online collecting and social experience as a fractured and multi-site journey.

• You cannot combine all of your goals ; collect, catalogue, show, meet, chat, buy, sell and trade in one location in a vital and engaging manner.

• Collectors and stores are being ripped off by global ecommerce giants and prices are being set at unaffordable levels.

• To create a network around an emerging and powerful lobby.

How?

• The product utilizes a preexisting Geek community trope, the trading card system (or Top Trumps), where images are uploaded onto cards i.e. Star Wars Lego X Wing Fighter.

• Cards are stored within packs, i.e. Star Wars Lego and the packs are filed as collections (Clections) i.e. Star Wars.

• Cards contain the data for cataloging, ecommerce and importantly the ability to socially discuss not only collectibles but also concepts, rumors and general geek related topics aimed at those who are not hardcore Clectas. We have a 12k strong community on Facebook made up of this mixed demographic.

• We have a strong gamification element to increase engagement where cards can be view flipped into a “battle stance” (think Pokémon) where you can compete against fellow Geeks and Clectason selected data for Level Up points to access badges, features and discounts.

“A just released study of more than a thousand adults by Modis confirmed that people are now proud of passions that would have formerly been considered embarrassing, including 87 percent saying they don't "sneak their geek," as in hide obsessions from co-workers, friends, family, and significant others.

The same survey shows that 65 percent of responders aren't ashamed of superhero toys or clothing, including pyjamas. Aging comic-book nerds are finally getting to see their obsessions projected back at them. The Avengers, which made $1.5 billion worldwide, would've been unfathomable a decade ago. We live in a world where the number-one comedy on TV is about nerds and their inability to get girls, and what was just the number-one film at the box, Iron Man 3, has been knocked out by Star Trek. “
