CLEAR W RANCH OVERALL SITEThe Clear W Ranch is an iconic property situated in one of the most pristine and beautiful locations in all of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The development of this amazing legacy ranch envisioned a fully completed ranch compound of buildings including a 28,000 sf main house, 3,900 sf guest house, 3,250 sf ranch manager house, 3,000 sf barn and 4,100 sf maintenance building. Planning strategies for the ranch compound optimized the spectacular view potential afforded by this site, while also providing maximum privacy and a hyper-sensitive attention to preserving the delicate ecology of the site.

MASTER PLAN The iconic legacy ranch is located in a secluded valley with a heritage of agricultural use. The relationship between the site and the residential design reflects the priority of views and the need for a seamless indoor/outdoor living style. The views from the site encompass two ponds, a private meadow and the elk mountain range. Without question, this ranch master plan attempts to integrate the new ranch buildings, and the lifestyle they offer within the inspiring surrounding beauty of this amazing property.

The design of the main house finds its inspiration in the examples of legacy ranches of the great American West. Planned as a compound, the primary living spaces anchor the design, and are centrally located within the plan. With intent to provide the design a sense of time and growth, the other areas of the plan were separated by bridges and connected hallways. This strategy gives the home uniqueness from an architectural perspective, but also provides maximum privacy for the owners, who entertain friends and guests on a frequent basis.

POOL AREAThe indoor/outdoor pool and hillside spa areas are private, sequestered into the landscape, and connected to the main living area with only a covered walkway. The design of the pool area is seamlessly integrated into the landscape and is only separated by use of a mechanical overhead glass door. This allows the pool to be utilized year round, instead of seasonal use normally found in the harsh mountain areas.

Designed as a rustic cabin with its own setting, the guest house is located across the pond from the main house.

As the owners are avid horsemen, the barn serves as the anchor to the equestrian facilities for the ranch. It is accessed from the main house via a footpath through the native scrub oak that visually separate the ranch operational building from the main house. Vehicular access is also provided by a thoughtfully planned ranch road. The barn plan consist of a center aisle, four stalls, wash stall, office, tack room, dressing room, feed storage and hay loft.

Clerestory windows wrap around the upper perimeter of the building and bring in generous amounts of natural light for all of the interior spaces.
