Chesapeake Poster Contest Clean and Green What? A poster contest where you can create a poster to illustrate the theme “Chesapeake Clean and Green.” Entries should encourage the viewer to start thinking and stop liering. Posters are judged based on originality, message impact, and visual appeal. Who? The contest is open to all students who are residents of Chesapeake and enrolled in grades K-12 (home schooled, public or private). Teachers are encouraged to register their students as a class! Why? Designing a poster can help you inform your community about how to keep Chesapeake Clean and Green! In addion to creang a poster to educate, you can also win a great prize! Cash Prizes awarded in EACH grade category: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place $100 $50 $25 Schools will also receive a $50 check for the teacher of each first-place winner for a celebraon party or any classroom need. Each winner must provide an IRS W9 form in their name. Winners will receive a cerficate and get to meet the Mayor, and winning poster entries will be displayed in the City Hall Lobby. Winners, principals and teachers will be nofied of the date, me and place for recognion. How? POSTER CONTEST RULES Clean and Green

The contest is open to all students who are residents of Chesapeake and enrolled in

grades K-12 (home schooled, public or private).

Only one entry per student.

The theme is “Chesapeake Clean and Green” (younger students may use a simplified “Clean and Green” theme). These words must be on the front of the poster.

Entries should encourage the viewer to start thinking and stop littering.

Poster should not be larger than 12″x 18″. Larger sizes are disqualified. Any type of paper can be used. Do not roll posters.

Students may use any 2D medium (i.e., crayons, watercolors, pastels, color pencils, etc.). Three-dimensional posters are disqualified. Brand names should not be included on posters.

The poster submitted must be the student’s original art work and lettering.

Posters become the property of the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council.

It is very important that the following information appear on the back of each poster. Posters without this information are disqualified. Student’s Name, Home Address & Telephone Number Student or Parent E-mail Address Teacher’s Name & E-mail Address (if applicable) School & Grade Level

Posters are judged based on originality, message impact, and visual appeal.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners are selected in categories K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12. In each category, 1st place winners receive $100, 2nd place $50 and 3rd place $25.
