CLE’s Temporary Art Exhibition Program is a free initiative available to artists. The purpose of this program is to showcase the diversity of arts and culture of the Cleveland Plus Region. Cultural institutions, arts organizations, museums, as well as individual artists, are afforded opportunities to exhibit their collections of original artwork and photography in the airport. Submissions are reviewed by an Art Review Panel. Each approved proposal is assigned an exhibit start date based on the exhibition calendar. The duration of exhibits is up to six months depending on the nature of the exhibit. Curatorial and installation support are provided to selected exhibitors. Artists are featured at the art site as well as on the airport’s website at www.clevelandairport.com. For more information, please call (216) 898-5209 or email [email protected].

The City of Cleveland and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) are proud to salute the winners of the 2014 Temporary Art Exhibition Program. This Program began to provide examples of the artistic richness and cultural diversity of the greater Cleveland area and enhance the experience of travelers passing through CLE.

Abstract art can be photography, a painting or sculpture that does not depict a person, place or thing in the natural world. Instead, the color and form are the subject of the abstract painting or photograph. It is completely non-object or non-representational. This exhibit, Abstract Nation is a tribute to abstract art.

CLE exhibits showcase the wealth of talented artists in the Cleveland region. It is with great pleasure that we display the works of these artists to be seen by an average of 30,000 passengers each day.

CLE is the gateway to the Northeast Ohio region and is the first and last impression visitors will have of our great city. This work serves as a reflection of what visitors can expect as they travel in and around Cleveland.

Sincerely,

Frank G. JacksonMayor

Michael Barath, an avid photographer for many years, Michael bought his first good digital camera 11 years ago when his granddaughter was born. He has since upgraded and currently shoots with a Nikon D3s. Michael enjoys low light photography and the

D3s are known for their excellent control over digital noise.

Throughout his life he has debated whether it is better to be pretty good at a lot of things, or world class at one thing. Unfortunately, he has never had the attention span to commit to more than a couple of years on any one pursuit: birding, bicycle racing, dog training, and more. Except photography, he can actually combine all of his interests with photography by using them as subjects. Michael isn’t sure he’ll ever have the talent to be world class, but so far it still strongly holds his attention. For more information, visit Michael’s website at www.justustow.com.

Mata Bottum-Ziegler, a native Clevelander combines her art training with years as an accomplished floral designer. Mata’s impressionist paintings are a dynamic, energetic interplay of texture, vibrant color and light. Her oil paintings have been shown and sold through juried shows, galleries and private commissions. For more information, visit Mata’s website at www.matamine.com.

Mike Bruckman is a multimedia artist, musician, and conceptual designer focused on recognizing pure moments of diverse feelings and organizing

them into physical media that he can share. By embracing technology and the exponentially fast changes associated with it, he finds that half of the time he is sifting through the sand trying not to become buried, while the other half is spent engaging in the global network or sharing at his fingertips. Mike firmly believes that his best work is always his next work, and the vast majority of his impact in the musical world is rising on the horizon.

Christine Bradlee has had a lifelong love of photography and humor. Thankfully as her eye sight has gotten worse her photography skills have vastly improved. Chris depends on a tripod to steady her hand and also to get back to a standing position.

Due to the effects of lack of height her images have an unusual point of view. She sincerely hopes you enjoy her photos and are amused by her bio. Chris can be contacted at [email protected].

David Lile is from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He encourages viewers to take a refreshed look at themselves and their relationship to the city around them. “It can be quite profound to realize that the common elements of life can be uncommonly beautiful,” explained David. His photography has a three-fold purpose: to capture a city’s unnoticed personality, architecture

and elements in ways that are often lost and overlooked in the repetition of everyday living; to demonstrate that there is beauty and energy within the commonplace; and to evoke a fresh perspective of the cities around us.
