The Clay County Youth Football League has joined the Clay County Three Star program in an effort to make our community a better place to live, work and play.
Pictured above is the Board of Directors, Front row, Steven Arms, Alan Sharp, Jason Hamilton, Craig Ogletree, Jeff Eads, back row, Matt Adams, Brent Burchett, Holly Burks, and Brian Burchett (Not Pictured Rob Eads and Jason Coons).
Two weeks ago youth league organizers from Trousdale County visited the board and discussed the organizational struc-ture of their very successful program. Several organiza-tional improvements have been put in place to insure that the Clay County foot-ball program continues to improve and to provide the players with an oppor-tunity to competitively compete in the Tri-County Youth Football League. Several standing commit-tees were appointed by Chairman Jason Hamilton to work on activities that will result in a better orga-nized program.
Chairman Hamilton at the last meeting called upon the chairs of each committee for a report. It was reported by Website Committee Chair Jeff Eads that a website is in the
process of being developed and can be found at clay-countyyouthfootball.com.
The Chair of the fund-raising committee, Matt Adams, reported that sev-eral fundraisers are under consideration with the cur-rent being a cookie dough sale. By-laws Committee Chair Alan Sharp reported that several sets of by-laws have been studied and that the committee will take the necessary steps to produce set of by-laws that will be used to govern the organization.
Equipment Chair Brent Burchett reported that sev-eral of the players have not turned in their equipment and that most of the exist-ing equipment needs to be replaced.
Chairman Hamilton and Director of Schools Jerry Strong announced that Tennessee Tech Head football Coach Watson Brown has agreed to bring his staff to Celina and provide a coaching clinic for all the CCYFL coaches. Coach Brown was born in Celina and owns prop-erty here and has a desire to help the Clay County Youth Football League be successful.
A written financial report was presented by Treasurer Alan Sharp. Upon completion of the report the meeting was adjourned by Chairman Hamilton.
