SIZE:     You  can  make  it  to  any  size  you  want  by  adjusting  the  length  of  the       foundation  chain.  The  cowl  I  have  made  in  this  example  is    63cm/25”       long.    HOOK:   One  and  a  half  sizes  larger  than  recommended  hook  size  for  yarn.

I  have  used  a  5.5mm  hook  with  DK  yarn.    YARN:   Any  weight  yarn.  In  the  example  I  have  used  Ice  Yarn  “Dancing  Baby”      SPECIAL  STITCHES:    Sc  BLO:  Work  a  single  sc  in  back  loops  only.

US  Terms   UK  Terms  Single  Crochet  (sc)   Double  Crochet  (dc)

ABBREVIATIONS:    ch  =  chain  blo  =  back  loop  only      PATTERN:

Start  with  a  chain  of  190.  If  you  want  to  make  the  cowl  longer  or  shorter,  adjust  the  number  of  chains  you  start  off  with.  I  put  a  stitch  marker  in  the  start  and  end  of  the  chain  and  measure  it  around  my  neck  to  check  the  length  (Pic  1).

Round  1:  Sc  in  2nd  chain  from  hook.  Sc  to  end  of  chain  in  top  loop  of  chain.

Round  2:  Join  two  ends  of  sc  chain  with  sc  in  blo  (back  loop  only)  to  last  sc  in  foundation  chain  (as  per  pic  2).  Make  sure  you  do  not  twist  the  chain  before  joining.

Continue  sc  in  blo  ina  continuous  round  until  the  width  you  desire  is  reached.  I  count  “rows”  from  the  join.  This  cowl  has  20  “rows”.

Finsh  off  and  weave  in  ends.
