These will need to be changed to suit your class.

Below are some simple classroom games which, mostly, only need board,

chalk and maybe some flash cards.

Chinese whispers- 2 teams in a line (6-10 each),

Give the student at the back of the class a piece of

paper with a word or saying. Then the person at the

front has to write the word on the board.

    20 Questions- Show a student a photo of a

person or object and the rest of the class must

ask questions in which the student can only

    answer yes or no.

What am I ________?- Stick a flash card on one

students back so they dont see it, the class then

does actions and the student then has to guess

what flash card is on their back.

Hangman-Think of a word and draw lines for each

letters on the board. Ask the students to raise

their hands and say a letter if the letter is in theword write the letter on the line which is the

letter is on. If not write the letter on the board

and draw a line, which will them form the picture

    on the Left.

    Shark Attack- Basically Hangman but

with a different picture (on the right).

And the man moves down the steps.

When the man is in the sea at the

bottom the shark eats him and the

class loses. You could use the students

names, and even name the shark, if the

man goes into the sea the student that

is the shark goes and eats the student

in the sea. You could have a boat for the students that have survived.

Face to Face- Two students stand at the front of the

class with their backs to one another. The teacher

gives them both a flash card. The students hold their

flash card near to their stomachs, when the teacher

says 3,2,1, go the students turn around and say

the the flash card that the other student is holding

    is.

    What and Where- Draw circles

on the board with wordswritten in them. When the

teacher points to the circle the

    students say the word. Then

the teacher rubs out a word

    and the students have to

    remember what that word was

when the teacher points to it.

Do this until there are no words left in the circles.

Slap the Board- Either stick flash cards or

write some words on the board. Call up two

students and when you say a word that is on

the board they have to hit that word or

    flashcard with a hammer.

You could also stick the flash cards around the

room or say something that is on one of the

students clothes, their bag or pencil case.

CategorySplit the class into 2 teams, and the

board in half. Give the class a topic (School

things, animals etc.); each team has 2 Minutes

to write as many words as they can think of on

the board from the given topic. Give them

rules such as only one person is allowed at the

board at any given time, students can only

write one word and then another student

    must write a word.

Word Boxing-2 students come to the front

of the class and are given a topic(countries, capital cities, etc.) the first

person has 10seconds to say a word from

that topic, then the other students has 10

seconds to say a word from the given topic

and so on until a student cant say a word

(words cant be repeated). The loser then

sits down and another student comes to the front to challenge the previous

winner and the new comer gets to choose the topic.

Body Point- Draw a stick man on the

board (like the picture). Teacher sticks

one of their arms or legs out or nods

their head and the students must say

the word. Teacher can then put 2 or 3

    arms or legs out.

After the students start to lose interest

have the students stand up and then the teacher says a word and all the

students must so the action (stick arm, leg out or nod head). You can even

get a student come to the front of class and say the word for the other

    students.

Actions- Have a student come to the front of class,

and write down a word on a piece of paper, show the

one student. Without talking the students must act

out that word and the rest of the class guess, the

student that guesses the correct answer is next up to

the front. (You could use fun words such as a boy

must act out girl, toilet, or crazy. But be very careful

not to embarrass the students or make them upset.)

Apple Pass-For this you need a ball and some music.

Give the class a topic, sports, play some music and

have the students pass a ball around the room. When

the music stops the student with the ball must standup and say a word from that topic, football, soccer,

    volleyball, etc.

Word Chain- Split the class into 2 teams and split the board

down the middle, give them a topic and write a word at the

top of each side of the board (Tiger, Cat). The students have 2

minutes to come to the board and write a new word startingwith the last letter from the previous word. (TigeR RabbiT

    TurtlE Elephant..)

Bingo- Same as the bingo we know but

instead of numbers you can use words from a

topic. Either get students to draw 3by3 boxes

in their books and write words from a topic in

there, teacher shows pictures of the words

and the students mark it off, once all are

marked they shout bingo. Or teacher prepares

picture bingo cards before and gives them to the students. The teacher then

says the word and the students mark off the boxes.
