It has its origin in kerala.
Refers to mohini(beauty) abd attam(dance) i.e. dance ofbeauty.
Dance is seductress based on tale of vishnutransforming himself to a women in order to seduce lordshiva.

Performed by white saried women. Involves_persausion,romance ,seduction,erocotism,etc,

It is performed by Mahari`s i.e. maha(great) and ri(naris)which means great women.
