KIDS’ SEWING CLASSLet’s get you comfortable with your machine and you will see how fun sewing and quilting can be. Students will work on individual projects whether it’s basic sewing skills, making pillows, bags, fabric art proj-ects or learning to quilt. Come have some creative fun while you learn. You are also welcome to work on your own projects. December we will work on Christmas items. Ages 8- unlimited. Limit 6 students in the class, adults can learn with the kids. Class meets the second Monday of the month. KIDS’ CAMP 2017Sewing Arts Kids CampWho wouldn’t want to play with fabric, color and learn to draw. In this Sewing Arts Camp we will learn to draw faces and make a fabric face bag, make a collaged landscape wall hanging, an improve pieced scrappy pillow and a cat stuffed toy. The new skills and techniques learnt will enable students to work independently on their own projects. This camp will develop creativity, sewing machine skills, quilting and construction techniques.Pick up a flyer and materials list at HowellsBring water bottle and snack.This class is for the kids. Parents or grandparents can visit but cannot stay as there is little room in the classroom and can be a distraction. Embroidery Club4th Saturday of the MonthEach month you will have the opportunity to try a new technique with your embroidery machine. This class is designed to help you become very familiar with your machines capabilities and many uses you may not be aware of. For example, making lace, quilting in the hoop, paper piecing, monograms, hard to hoop items, texture and more. Of course, there will be the basic projects also to get you going if machine embroidery is new to you. This is a free class if your embroidery machine was purchased at Howell’s. A supply list will be available each month and you may want to purchase the designs used.

Westerlee Rulers presentsRULER PLAY ON A DOMESTIC MACHINE

Have you ever seen longarm quilters using rulers to keep their lines straight while in free motion? Or maybe executing curves and circles without having to draw on their quilts? Now, Leonie West of Austra-lia has designed a system for domestic machines so that we can use rulers, too! No walking foot needed for straight lines, minimal marking for the fancy stuff – this is really fun, easy and time saving! You will use your own machine and must have an extension table. Ruler Play 2 - Feathers, Circles, & More!

Picking up where Ruler Play ends, the templates include different feather styles with both curved and straight spines, spinning feathers, and Baptist Fan motifs, expanding the student’s design selection and template handling skills. SPACEY LACY BOWLThis is a quick and easy project that you can com-plete in just a few hours. Just pick someone’s favorite color and you’re off! Looks great in holiday colors, too. Use Sulky Cotton Blendables and cotton yarn for a dif-ferent look, or for a dressy look use Sulky Metallics. Use snippets of coordinating fabric and maybe some trims or special ribbons and yarns. You may take this class as often as you like. Serger BasicsWe can help you overcome your serger phobia.
