• Agree in number– The SNAKE swallows its prey.– The SNAKES swallow their prey.
• Find the antecedent!– This new mobile phone looks great, but they can break

A little trickier agreement..
The age of some trees is determined by counting their rings.
• Subject of “is” is age. Age is singular, but “their” is a plural pronoun…. Why?
• Unlike the subject in a sentence, the antecedent can be anywhere
