Hint: A verb is a word that conveys an action, an occurrence, or a state of being.

Types of verbs:

o Action verb: Main verb or action verb

is used to express an action; something

that an animal, a person or a thing does.

o Helping verb: As the name suggests, helping

verb helps or supports the main verb.

ANIMALS: ADAPTATIONS FOR FOOD

Animals eat plants or other animals. Animals can be

grouped as herbivores, carnivores, omnivores and

parasites according to their food habits.

Plant-eating animals are called herbivores. Cows,

goats and giraffes eat plants. They have sharp biting

and strong grinding teeth. They have long and strong

legs to travel long distances in search of food.

Flesh-eating animals are called carnivores. Lions, tigers and dogs eat the flesh of other

animals. They have well developed tearing teeth. Flesh-eating birds like eagles and

vultures have sharp beaks and claws to catch other animals and to tear their flesh.

Animals that eat both plants and animals are called omnivores. Bears, crows and

cockroaches are some omnivores. Some animals live on or inside the bodies of other

animals for their food. They are called parasites. The animals on which parasites

depend for their food are called hosts. Mosquitoes, leeches, hookworms and bugs are

parasites. They have suckers or sucking tubes to suck blood from their host.

ANIMALS: ADAPTATIONS FOR PROTECTION

Fast movement, large size and merging with the

surroundings are three common ways by which animals

protect themselves from their enemies. The adaptation

for protection, with the help of which an animal merges

or blends with its surroundings is called camouflage.

How to apply line spacing:

First select the text.

Follow the steps to set the paragraph spacing:
