CAUTION IN HANDLING

Always adjust the controls beforestarting so you can keep both hands onthe handlebars while riding.

The unit is designed to be water resistantand dew-proof, but not to be used inwater or to be sprayed with a hose.

If necessary to replace a fuse, use a 2Afuse for the main power supply, a IAfuse for the backup power supply, a 4Afuse for the power booster, a 3A Fuse

for the CB main power supply, a IAFuse for the CB backup power supply

and 21A Fuse for INTERCOM main

power supply.

If the controller of the face plate getssoiled, wipe it with a soft cloth whichhas first been soaked in a solution ofneutral detergent and wrung.Organic solutions such as gasoline,thinner and benzine should never be

If water or dirt gets into receptacle forthe control unit plug, an operatingdefect or a failure may occur. Also, ifthe pins in the plug are bent, they willno longer provide proper contact.

To protect the connector contacts andavoid breakdowns, always turn theignition key OFF before removing thecontrol unit.

• Backup power for the memory is

supplied by the motorcycle battery. If

the battery is disconnected orcompletety discharged, the contents of

the memory will be erased and youwill have to reset the presetbuttons.

• If the volume is raised excessively in thecity when using the speakers, otherpersons would be disturbed.

• I f t h e rad io , CB, casse t t e or o th e r sare used for a long time with the vehicleengine stopped, the battery voltagewo u ld d ro p and th e mo tor s t a r t ermight not be turned. Increased volumeof the radio, CB, cassette or othersincreases the power consumption. Whenlistening with the motorcycle stopped,reduce the volume as far as possible.

THEFT PREVENTION:

This radio is mounted so that the mainradio unit and control unit are separate.If you intend to leave your motorcyclefor a long period of time, the controlunit can be detached and taken with you.Detaching the control unit:

1. Insert the key (1) into the lock and

turn it clockwise.

2. While holding the key, pull it firmlytoward you. Once the unit is aboutone-third withdrawn, pull it up anddetach it from the fairing.

3. Attach the blind panel ( 2 ).

Mounting the control unit:1. Remove the blind panel by pulling its

lower end.2. Insert the two tabs on the bottom of

the control unit into the groove in theholder. (3)

3. Push the unit until you hear the lockclick. (4)

4. Check that the unit is locked intoposition.

111, WARNING

Always adjust controls or reset tuningbefore riding. Keep both hands on thehandlebars while riding.

Do not turn the volume up so loud thatit inteferes with safe riding or createsa disturbance.

CAUTION:

Although the control units is designedto be water-resistant and dew-proof,do not spray it with a hose, Removethe con tro l un i t and ins ta l l theblind panel before washing motor-cycle.

* Do not expose the connector betweenthe control unit and the main radio unitto water or dirt. Also take care whenremoving the control unit that you donot bend the pins in the connector.Water, dirt and bent pins in the con•nector can cause faulty operation orfailure.

* Always switch off the power whenremoving the control unit to avoiddamaging the connector pins and thecontrol unit.

HOW TO LISTEN TO RADIO

(1) Connect the headset.

(2) Turn off all the power switches of theoperating equipment.

adjustment knob.

(6) Turn on the power siwtch for radio. The indicatorof the radio will come on.RADIO

(4) Turn off the key of Motorcycle.

(8) Adjust the VOL control of radio sothat the sound is small but audible.

(7) Set to FM the band selector andsensitivity selector of radio. The (FM)indicator will light.

(9) Depress the auto seek switch lightlyand then release it. Searching is madeuntil a broadcasting station is caught.When another stat ion is desired,depressing the auto seek switch againsearches the next station. The fre-quency at the stopped position will beindicated on the display.The auto seek switch again searchesthe next station. The frequency at thestopped position will be indicated onthe display.This searching returns from the highestreception frequency edge to the lowestedge at a stroke, and proceeds suc-cessively in the higher frequency.When a stereophonic program is beingreceived, (ST) is indicated on thedisplay.

Manual "UP" and "DOWN".Every time UP is depressed moment.arily, the frequency increases 200 kHzSimilarly, every time DN is depressedmomentarily, the frequency decreases200 kHz.Keeping the button depressedincreases or decreases the frequencyin 200 kHz steps. Use these buttonsto set desired frequencies.

(10) Adjust the tone control to an agree-able status. After a desired station isreceived, it can be preset. The fourpreset buttons permit to select fourstations.

(11) Depress the memory button. The (ME)LED will illuminate. Preset is availableonly while this (ME) LED is lighting.In about five seconds, the (ME) LEDextinguishes automatically.While the (ME) LED is being lit afterdepressing the memory button, de-press STATION SELECTOR button(1) out of (1) through (4). As soon asit is depressed, the (ME) display LEDextinguishes. Thus the station has beenpreset at PRESET STATION selectorbutton 1. Depress the auto seek but-ton again to select another station,and depress again the preset stationselector button. Then the preset sta-tion is called. In the same way, desiredstations can be preset at 2,3 and 4.

(12) How to adjus t and use clock* When key switch and radio power

switch are turned off Depress theclock button. The clock display ap-pears. It fades away in about sixseconds.

(AM)When radio power switch is turned on

(13) Depress the clock button. The frequ-ency display changes into a clock dis-play. At this time, (AM) or (PM) LEDdisplay comes on. In about six seconds,the frequency display is resumed.(During the clock display, radio goeson as it is.)

* The hour can be adjusted only whenthe radio power switch is turned on.The radio displays the frequency.Depress the clock button.The clock display appears.Here, release the clock button and,within about six seconds, hold downthe memory button and depressDOWN of the manual search button.Then the time changes hour by hour.Because the time display is of a twelvehour system, 12 o'clock is followed by1 o'clock, and 2, .... Every time 12o'clock is reached, (AM) and (PM)displays alternate. Here, develop (AM)or (PM) and let us set the time. Hold-ing down the ME button and "H"automatically advances the hour.Holding down the ME button anddepressing "H" instantly increases thehour step by step.

To set 4:15 p.m., obtain 4 (PM) byoperating "H" and then, while depress-ing the ME button, push the "M"button. Minutes will increase one byone. At 15 minutes, release the "M"button, and then the ME button. Inapproximately six seconds, the radiofrequency is displayed again.

INTERCOM SECTION

FEATURES Intercom operates independently, per-

WARNING:1. Do not raise the volume excessively.

CAUTION:

1. The intercom is available with a com-munication set only.

2. If the intercom volume is raised ex-cessively, whistling noise would besuperposed when combinedly used withradio, cassette or CB at a high speed.

3. The intercom is so designed that theradio or cassette sound is muted auto-matically with a talk through the inter-com when listening to communication,radio, cassette or others. Adjustment isavailable by the mute level adjustercontrol. If the mute level adjuster isrotated fully clockwise when driving ata high speed on a freeway, for example,the volume may be muted by sound ofwind. In such a case, set the mute leveladjuster to Min., then gradually turn itclockwise until mute occurs by wind,and return counterclockwise a little.

How to use intercom(1) Turn off all the power switches of the

operating equipment.

(2) Headsets are used by the driver andpassenger.

(3) Turn on the power switch of intercom.(Turn the knob until a click is heardto turn on power of the intercom.)

(4) Turn the intercom volume controlclockwise until the volume is appro-priate when the passenger or drivertalks at a normal voice level. At thisstate, the passenger and driver canintercommunicate freely.

How to listen to CB

(I) Turn off all the power switches of theoperating equipment.

(2) Turn on the power switch of CB(clockwise until a click is heard). Theindicator lamp will come on.

(3) Turn SQ knob counterclockwise allthe way.

(4) Set the mode to SP by the SP ON/OFF switch. The SP indicator willcome on.

(5) Turn volume control (2) clockwise.Receiving sound or noise will be heardfrom the speakers.

(6) Determine the channel to be used withthe opposite side. To select channel 10for example, set the UP/DN switchto UP, depress once at a time succes-sively in the direction until 10 is ob-tained or, keep depressed up to aroundthe desired channel and then depressUP or DN to obtain channel 10.

(7) As the SQ knob is turned clockwise,there wi l l be a point where noisedisappears. Turn the knob a li t t lefurther from this point. At this state,you will be able to hear the oppositecalling party.

(8) Call the opposite party by

pushing the press talk switch.

(5) Rotate the volume control for radio toobtain a proper volume level. An ex-cellent sound of FM will be heardfrom the speakers.

(6) Turn on the power switch for inter-com. (Intercom is heard only from theheadsets.)

(7) Raise the volume. At this state, thepassenger and driver can communicate eachother before the microphones. At this time,the radio is heard form the speakers, and theintercom is heard from the headsets.

(8) Turn the speaker selector switch clock-wise until a click is heard to changeover the radio sound from the speakersto the headsets. At this state, talks be-tween the driver and passenger (inter-corn) are mixed with the radio.

Automatic muting circuit

(9) Turn the speaker select switch/mutingselect switch fully clockwise. When thepassenger and driver speak to each

other using the intercom, the FMsound will be automatically cut offand only the conversation will be effec-tive. As soon as the conversation is sus-

pended, the FM radio will be resumedautomatically.

(10) Operating the muting select knobchanges the level of the human voice atwhich the radio is muted. Turningclockwise decreases the voice level atwhich the radio is muted, and viceversa. When muted by a whistlingsound by wind on a freeway or thelike, adjust this knob so as not to bemuted.

At this state, turn on power of the cassetteplayer and increase the volume. The radiofrequency display will disappear. The radioprogram heard through the headsets fadesaway and, instead, the cassette tape soundis heard. (When it is desired to listen to amusic from the cassette tape, turn thespeaker select switch to the SP mode.Then, the cassette music is heard from thespeakers, and the intercom from theheadsets.)

(11) Turn the SQ knob of CB counter-clockwise all the way.

(12) Turn on the power switch for CB. Thecassette display and (SP) mode displaywill come on. The cassette tape sounddisappears from the speakers, and theCB voice or noise is heard.The intercom is available at all timesthrough the headsets.

(13) Turn the SQ knob slowly clockwiseuntil the cassette sound is heard fromthe speakers instead of CB.Turn the SQ knob a little further. Atthis time, the cassette music is heard.When the opposite party calls youthrough CB at this state, the CB sound isheard instead of the cassette music. Assoon as the talk from the calling sideends, the cassette music is resumed.
