CLADDING FIRE INCIDENT Fire safety is a crucial part of Building Industry. Fire destroys properties and investments worth hundreds of million ringgits every year - a loss to the industry and nation as it will affect productivity. There will also be unnecessary lives lost, disturbance of family life which is immeasurable if compared with property loss. Incorporating appropriate fire safety design into built-environment is a necessity of modern construction industry for preservation of environment and carbon foot print reduction. The recent cladding fire incidents around the world has raised concerns among Government agencies, professionals, developers, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and occupants who are high-rise building dwellers. With similar incidents inn Australia, Shanghai, Dubai and the disaster at Grenfell Tower with 71 casualties, it prompted global attention to asked what went wrong with modern cladding systems. How a simple facade cladding system can be so lethal not only is a threat to life safety but destroy property worth millions of dollars. This has not taken into consideration of the cost involved in mitigation effort of the rest of buildings that is cladded with similar systems. The problem is not just about highly flammable façade cladding system but underlying complex issues of how it flourished to become part of residential high-rise buildings and super high-rise complexes in major cities around the world. To address fire safety issues, there are needs to understand potential caused and fire risks so that any foreseeable hazards may be prevented. This seminar will look at some of these issues and the solutions in resolving the highly combustible cladding system to make as-built environment a safer place to live. The knowledgeable speakers will share their experience and latest findings on various aspects of fire safety participants. The morning session will consist of two papers with a workshop session in the afternoon. & Date : 13th March 2018, Tuesday Time : 9.00am -5.00pm Venue : Dewan President, Level 2, PAM Centre, Jalan Tandok, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur 0800 Registration 0900 Welcoming speech by Ar.
