CITY OF PORT ALBERNI
TENDER No. 019-14 - BAINBRIDGE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
TO ALL TENDERERS: June 11, 2014
The following changes, additions, and/or deletions are hereby made a part of the Quotations for the City
of Port Alberni, Bainbridge Water Treatment Plant, as fully and completely as if the same were fully
set forth therein:
1. Instructions to Tenderers
Add the following Article:
“ARTICLE 46:
The Tenderer is advised that the City of Port Alberni reserves the right to delete the installation of the
Owner supplied energy recovery equipment, (Item 15.1.3 of the Tender Form), the supply and installation
of the inlet piping to the energy recovery equipment (Item 2.8 of the Tender Form), energy recovery
equipment pre commissioning assistance (Item 16.4 of the Tender Form) and the required electrical and
controls (Item 16.5 of the Tender Form) in the event that the required permits and agreements are not in
place prior to award of the Contract. The City will proceed with the supply and installation of the outlet
piping to the energy recovery equipment (Item 2.12) as part of this Contract. The Contractor shall ensure
all overhead and profit is allocated to the appropriate Tender Price.”
2. Tender Form
Delete Addendum No. 1 Tender form in its entirety and Replace with the attached Tender Form
Energy Recovery Equipment inlet and outlet piping and electrical components have been
separated for possible deletion from Contract.
3. Section 02315 Trenching and Backfill
Add Clause 3.12.4 “.4 Paved Roads: In travelled areas that are within in the road allowance, trench
backfill above the pipe zone shall be approved imported granular backfill material to subgrade level,
compacted to 95% of Modified Proctor Density (ASTM D1557). The remainder of the trench shall be
backfilled with the design depth of road subbase (250 mm), road base gravel (100 mm), and hot asphalt
mix (to match existing, minimum of 50 mm). This work shall include all required sawcutting and crack
sealing.”
4. Section 07540 Thermoplastic Polyolefin Roofing
Clause 2.2.2 Add: “Ultraply 60 mil TPO as manufactured by Firestone and distributed by Div7 Building
Systems of Surrey BC.” After the first sentence.
5. Section 11030 Onsite Hypochlorite Generation Equipment
Clause 2.8.3 Add: “.9 Seismic restraint or tie-down. OSHGS shall supply seismic restraint calculations
sealed by a Professional Engineer certified to practice in the province of British Columbia.”
6. Section 11101 Rubber Seated Butterfly Valves
Clause 2.3.1 Add: “Valve bodies shall be class 150B.”

the new incoming wireway section. As per BC Hydro standards conduits are to stub up 2/3 of the depth
of the wireway section. The depth is expected to be 600mm, but this to be confirmed with equipment
supplied.

Material Payment Bond on the forms provided in the documents and for the amounts specified in
Article 32 of the General Conditions, within ten (10) days of the date of the Notice of Award of the
Contract, such time limit being extended only on the written approval of the Owner:

8. To commence and proceed actively with the work within a period of seven (7) days of issuing of the
Notice to Proceed, and to complete all work under the Contract within a period of
________________* calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed, subject to the Provisions
of Article 41 of the General Conditions for extension of Contract time.
9. That should he fail to complete the work in the time specified above, he shall compensate the Owner
in accordance with Article 37 of the General Conditions.
10. To do all extra work not reasonably inferable from the specifications or drawings but called for in
writing by the Engineer and to accept as full compensation therefore payment in accordance with the
provisions of Article 39 of the General Conditions.
11. That payment for the work done will be made on the basis of the quantities measured by the Engineer

under the terms of the Contract.
