City of Orillia Weekly Bulletin Help us Name a Future Park The Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is currently in the process of constructing a neighbourhood park located at 3050 Orion Blvd. in the Stone Ridge subdivision. The Recreation Advisory Committee would like to invite the public to consider and submit suggestions for the naming of this park in accordance with City Policy 7.1.8.1. for the naming/renaming of parks. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at 12 p.m. Please make written submissions, including your contact information, to: Recreation Advisory Committee, City of Orillia, 50 Andrew St. S., Suite 300, Orillia, ON L3V 7T5 The committee will confidentially review submissions and report a recommendation to an upcoming meeting of Council. Enjoy programs such as shuffleboard, carpet bowling, drop-in socials, cards, board games and more! A punch card can be purchased for $10 plus HST and can be used for 20 different activities/visits to the Seniors at Play Centre. Municipal Operations Centre - 20 James St. W. Wastewater Treatment Centre - 40 Kitchener St. Orillia Transit/OWLS – Service will run as regularly scheduled on Nov. 11, 2019. Please note: buses will stop for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. Holiday Waste Collection Schedule Due to Remembrance Day, there will be no recycling, green bin or yard waste collection on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, and the Waste Diversion Site will be closed. Collection for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. Items must be at the curb by 7 a.m. to ensure collection. The regular collection schedule will resume on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019. Download Pingstreet, the City’s free mobile app, for your personalized curbside collection schedule. Overnight Parking Restrictions begin Nov. 15The City of Orillia reminds residents that parking is prohibited on any municipal street or parking lot between the hours of midnight and 7 a.m. from Nov. 15, 2019 to April 15, 2020.

When you go to bed on Thursday, Nov. 14, make sure your vehicle is not parked on the road or in a municipal parking lot as the restriction comes into effect when the clock strikes midnight. Illegally parked vehicles can delay or impair the City’s snow plowing or sanding operations. This prohibition is in effect whether it is snowing or not. All illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed.

Storying Climate Change EventWith intimate stories and thoughtful attention, Rising Tides addresses the past, present and future of climate justice through fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. Join editor Catriona Sandilands with contributors Kyo Maclear, Deborah McGregor, Hillary McGregor and other local writers for readings, discussion, and refreshments.

Call for New Committee MembersEach fall, Council appoints members to fill vacancies on City boards and committees. Some boards and committees require a specific level of interest or expertise, while others simply require you to bring your creative ideas and interest in serving the community. Most boards and committees meet on a monthly basis. Terms of the appointments vary and may be for up to four years in duration.

New members are currently required for the following:
