Again, the official ribbon cutting ceremony with the President of MSU and Lt. Governor Parsons in attendance is scheduled for this Friday, September 1 (today) at 1 :30 p.m. at the new MSU facility in Camdenton. We urge your attendance.

East Highway 54 Sidewalk TAPS Projects The contractor is now over the time limit of August 16 and liquidated damages should commence. Since our meeting with all parties on August 21 the communication is much better. A press release is continuing to be issued by the City Clerk to keep the pubic advised. The most recent correspondence from the contractor notes the following:

"Grant Ave and Illinois will be completed this week (ends September 1) along with all the sidewalk to the end of the project. At least 4-5 of the approaches. Which will leave Circle Court and 3 approaches plus all the seeding and placing the sod and installing the poles and signs for the project. ATK will complete the stripping and that should complete the project. Shooting to be completed by September 8."

Airport Apron Project The Airport Apron Project Grant as well as the construction contract, and the CMT construction oversight agreement were approved at the last Board Meeting. A pre-construction meeting was held on Friday, August 25. The project will not start until April 2018 should be completed before the July 2018 Porsche event. An anticipated schedule from the Contractor, Capital, is attached.

Airport Runway Extension Project We have made progress on obtaining all of the needed properties for the project. A contract with Mr. Mathis and a separate contract with Mr. and Mrs. Newman were approved by the Board at your last meeting. The City has only one purchase left to acquire all properties. We requested approval of a counter offer over a month ago to MoDOT Right of Way and have yet to receive approval to make the City's counter offer.

Trail Ridge Lift Station Road A Pre-bid conference was held Thursday, August 10, 2017 and sealed bids were received August 22 and were publically opened in the City Council Chambers. A contract is on this Board Meeting Agenda for your approval.

Water Line Replacement Project We postponed this year's project and incorporated it into another project scheduled for the upcoming October 1 budget. The City Engineer is already working on design of the additional project. Both the original project and the new project will be bid early to receive the most competitive bids for the 2018 construction season.

SPRINGFIELD - A public safety training facility born from an agreement between Missouri State University and the city of Camdenton will open Sept. 1. The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.

"This facility could not have come at a better time. It's a big deal for the Camdenton and lake area, filling a need for law enforcement training for a 50-75 mile radius," said Gib Adkins, MSU regional outreach administrator. Celebration details The celebration, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., will include speeches from Missouri State President Clif Smart and Missouri Lt. Gov. Mike Parson. Camdenton Mayor John McNabb and Dr. Joye Norris, MSU associate provost of access and outreach, will also speak. Speeches begin at 1:45 p.m., with a public tour of the building to follow. The celebration will take place at 35 College Ave. in Camdenton. Guests should park behind the building, and additional parking will be provided at O'Reilly Auto Parts across the street. Further information The new facility will offer continuing education for Missouri law enforcement officers, fire-fighters and EMT /first responders. For more information regarding the ceremony, contact Adkins at 417-532-0518.

Commercial Economic Development Activity I have been working on at least 4 retail economic development projects over the last week. Have also been in contact about a possible request for approval of a sewer hookup to City Hall's sewer lift station. If it proceeds this will require Board approval of an agreement between the City and the applicant at a future Board of Aldermen meeting.

Possible New Corporate and T-Hangars We are working with the engineer for a new corporate hangar out at the Airport. We are also receiving interest from other private parties for the possible construction of additional T-hangars.
