Disproportionate Minority Contact

2nd Year of a two year grant from the The Center for

Childrens Law and Policy.

Leading the efforts in reducing the arrests of African

American youth in our schools and our community.

Developed alternatives to arrests through our

collaboration with Meridian and CDS.

Reichert House

After school program designed for 4th – 12th grade youth

who are in need of assistance in making the transition from

adolescence to adulthood. The Reichert House is operated

in a Para Military fashion. The program has a middle school

and separate high school component.

The Reichert House offers a combination of discipline,

work, and social and recreational activities which foster a

balanced environment for those enrolled.

Elementary Wing and STEM center opens November 5th.

BOLD Re-Entry Program

A sampling of the activities and events that occur each year include:

Etiquette training

Anger/Stress management techniques and training

Employment through YES program

Trips to local institutions and other cities and theme parks in the region

Nightly meals in a traditional family setting

B.O.L.D. Re-Entry Program

Brave Overt Leaders of Distinction (BOLD)

is a re-entry program designed for young men

18-24

Participants have been in the criminal

justice system and need assistance with

their path towards personal success.

Participants lack a high school diploma

or GED and are currently unemployed

Gainesville Police Explorers

Explorer Post 917 began over 30 years ago, and is a youth program for high school students interested in law enforcement.

Explorers gain knowledge of the law, develop importance of community service, leadership qualities and responsibility. Post 917 is chartered through the Boy Scouts of America and is sponsored by GPD. Explorers are volunteers and receive community service hours, which averages over 4,000 community service hours a year for the Gainesville Community.

Post 917 is a member of the Florida Association of Police Explorers (FAPE). Explorers compete for awards and prizes. A competition team travels statewide to events competing and representing Post 917.

Requirements for Post 917:

14-20 years old (in or entering school)

Must be in school and maintain a “C” average or better

No major criminal charges

Free of drugs, alcohol and smoking

Parental Consent
