How to Cite for Your EmazePresentation
Your Emaze Presentation on a Protest Song is REALLY a research
project!
This means, not only will you have to look stuff up, but that you’ll use OTHERPEOPLE’S stuff to support your analysis.
And…
If you use other people’s stuff, you have to:
Attribute the stuff to them
-- and --
Cite!
How To Attribute… and not be accused of plagiarizing.

Attributive TagsAttributive Tags are short phrases that help you
indicate that an idea in your writing comes from somewhere else. In other words, you "tag" ideas and other evidence to show the relationship between your ideas and those of a source.
They give credit to the original author… and they keep you from plagiarizing.
It’s the best way to keep cows happy.

Why Tag?Attributive Tags help you avoid being accused
of plagiarism, since they ensure that you clearly indicate all paraphrases, summarized, and quoted material.
Tags help your reader understand when outside evidence starts and stops.
Tags help you establish the authority of your evidence, since they give you an opportunity to establish the credentials of your source.

Placing a TagAttributive Tags can be placed before, within, or after the quotation. When an attributive tag is placed within a quotation, the second half of the quotation is not capitalized unless it begins a new sentence.

Placing a TagAlso, when naming an author for the first time, use his/her full name in the attributive tag. Afterward, you can refer to the author using the last name only.

Examples:In his latest book, The Literary Cow, Jason
Bovinale says, “Not using correct attributive tags will surely make a cow charge at you”(Bovinale 219).
“Not using correct attributive tags,” says Bovinale, “will surely make a cow charge at you” (Bovinale 219).
“Not using correct attributive tags will surely make a cow charge at you,” says Bovinale(Bovinale 219).
One Last Thing…Verbs are both your
and a cow’s best
friend.

One More
Thing!
“No Quote
Bombs!”
What is it?A Quote Bomb is when you are writing an essay and instead of leading into or mentioning where certain information came from, you throw in a quote.
The reader has no idea if the quote is legitimate or even where it is from.

Double-ScoreBecause plagiarizing – and not doing it – matter so much in an academic setting, you will receive a double-score for proper citations and attributive tags in your Emaze.
In other words, if you attribute and cite properly, you will receive
two scores of (6).
If there is JUST ONE example of poor citing or attributing, you
will receive two scores of (1).
