Purpose, Audience, and Scope of This Ordering Guide
Purpose: This guide describes the pricing, part numbers, and ordering process for Cisco Unity Connection
products.
Audience: The audience for this guide is Cisco sales staff and Cisco Unified Communications Specialized
Partners.
Scope: This ordering guide covers Cisco Unity Connection Versions 10.x, 11.x, and 12.x.
Ordering and Quoting Tools
Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) is the online ordering tool used by Cisco. The SKUs presented in this
ordering guide must be entered into Cisco Commerce Workspace to build a quote and submit an order to Cisco.
Cisco Commerce Workspace can be accessed here: https://www.cisco.com/web/ordering/root/index.html.
Orderability and Software Shipment
All product versions and add-ons covered in this ordering guide are currently orderable.
All orders of Cisco Unity Connection are delivered as software only. Also, with Cisco Unity Connection 12.0 and
later, all orders of Cisco Unity Connection are electronic delivery only. There are no separate product numbers or
additional charges for ordering software only. The software packages discussed previously provide the Cisco Unity
Connection application software, OS, and a Product Activation Key (PAK) to generate a license key for a Cisco
Unity Connection system. Note that Cisco Unity Connection 12.0 and later uses Cisco Smart Software Licensing
and therefore no longer uses PAKs.

Ordering Components of an Order
Several steps should be followed when completing any type of order: new, add-on, or upgrade. Some of these
steps are required, and some are optional. These are the basic ordering steps:
Step 1. Select the top-level product part number (required). The top-level part number defines the overall product
and version number that you are ordering in the system.
© 2017 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Confidential Information. Page 5 of 16
Step 2. Add the mailbox licenses for each type of user (required). After the top-level product has been
established, you need to purchase the associated mailbox licenses for the number of users that the
customer’s Cisco Unity Connection system will support.
There are two types of Cisco Unity Connection users: Basic and Enhanced.
● Basic (formerly referred to as Standard a-la-carte) user voice-messaging user licenses have been
available since Version 9.0 and include all user-based features such as voicemail and integrated and
unified messaging capabilities, as well as automated speech recognition, Internet Message Access
Protocol (IMAP), web inbox, all supported language localizations.
● Enhanced voice-messaging user licenses have been available since Version 9.1 and include all Basic
user functions plus the capability to configure the user for Cisco Survivable Remote Site Voicemail
(SRSV).
You can mix Basic and Enhanced users on the same Cisco Unity Connection server. Only Enhanced
users can be configured for a branch-office SRSV system.
Step 3. Select add-on licenses for any additional functions and services the customer wants (optional). The
following add-on licenses are available for Cisco Unity Connection:
● Speech Connect: Speech Connect is a speech-enabled automated attendant that is included as part of
Cisco Unity Connection. It lets the customer use voice commands (they say the name of the person
they want to call) instead of dialing a number. Two ports of Speech Connect come with each Cisco
Unity Connection order. Additional ports can be ordered at no additional cost by using the part
numbers listed in this document. In addition, if the customer needs more Speech Connect licenses
than the number of Cisco Unity Connection subscribers they have, they can purchase additional guest
user licenses.
Customers can order guest user licenses for as many or as few users as they like.
● SpeechView: Cisco SpeechView converts voice messages to text and delivers the text version of the
voice message to the user’s email inbox approximately 5 minutes after the voice message has been
left, allowing them to read their voice messages and take immediate action. They do not need to learn
any commands or take special action to receive text versions of their voice messages. The original
audio version of each voice message remains within Cisco Unity Connection and is available to the
user anywhere, anytime.
SpeechView is available in two versions: Standard and Professional:
◦ SpeechView Standard is a fully automated service, without human intervention
◦ SpeechView Professional is a human-assisted service with very high transcription accuracy
For more information about SpeechView, see

New systems: Ordering components individually
All new system orders for Cisco Unity Connection should follow the steps presented here.
For more information about the steps described here or about the options available in each step, please refer to the
complete description provided earlier in the section Components of an Order.
Note: The tables throughout this document display the part numbers of all Cisco Unity Connection versions that
are orderable (not only the current shipping version). Please check the description of each part number carefully to
help ensure that you order the correct version number.
Step 1. Select the top-level product part number (Table 1). Select one required version for Cisco Unity Connection
software. The –K9 (restricted) version supports both control and data plane encryption, whereas the XU-
K9 (unrestricted) version supports only control plane encryption. Note that you should choose the –K9
(restricted) version if the customer plans on integrating Cisco Unity Connection with Cisco Unified
Communications Manager Mixed Mode security, for example.

New systems: Ordering through Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing
Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL) is an ordering method that helps customers and their users gain the
total value of Cisco Unified Communications applications in one package. UWL provides the licensing, access
rights, and application software on a per-user basis for numerous Cisco Unified Communications applications.
Cisco Unity Connection is included as a component of UWL. Select Unity Connection as the messaging platform.
For more information about UWL, please refer the following sites and resources:
● Cisco Unified Communications Licensing public website:
https://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9156/index.html.
● Cisco Unified Communications Licensing partner website:
https://www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/technology/ipc/integrated-solutions/workspace_licensing.html.
● Cisco Unified Communications Licensing Jive site (Cisco internal): https://cisco.jiveon.com/docs/DOC-
1251273.
Ordering Add-on Software Licenses for an Existing Deployment
If the customer has already purchased Cisco Unity Connection, they can add mailboxes or optional system
functions to their current deployment. The software license keys for Cisco Unity Connection are cumulative. For
Cisco Unity Connection 10.x or 11.x, follow the Cisco Prime License Manager Add License wizard to add more
licenses for the Cisco Unity Connection instance that is registered to Cisco Prime License Manager.
Note that Cisco Unity Connection 12.0 and later uses Cisco Smart Software Licensing. Cisco Prime License
Manager is no longer used with Cisco Unity Connection 12.0 and later. Adding mailboxes or optional system
functions to an existing 12.0 or later deployment using the steps below will automatically deposit the appropriate
licenses into the organization’s Cisco Smart Account.
One of the most frequent errors when ordering license add-ons is failing to start with a single top-level part number.
For example, to add 100 mailboxes to an existing Cisco Unity Connection system, use the process shown here:
© 2017 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Confidential Information. Page 8 of 16
Correct:
● Order a quantity of 1 of part number L-UCXN12-LIC-UPG.
● Order a quantity of 100 of part number UNITYCN12-STD-USR.
Why: This order automatically deposits an additional 100 additional mailboxes into the organization’s Cisco Smart
Account.
Incorrect: Order a quantity of 100 of part number L-UCXN12-LIC-UPG.
Why: This order does not deposit any additional mailboxes into the organization’s Cisco Smart Account.
Correct:
● Order a quantity of 1 of part number L-UCXN11-LIC-UPG.
● Order a quantity of 100 of part number UNITYCN11-STD-USR.
Why: This order creates a single license key with incremental tags to activate 100 additional mailboxes. There is
just one license key to load on Cisco Prime License Manager.
Incorrect: Order a quantity of 100 of part number L-UCXN11-LIC-UPG.
Why: This order creates 100 individual license keys to load and manage on the Cisco Unity Connection system.
Use the following steps when ordering add-on software licenses to an existing deployment.
Step 1. Select the top-level product part number (Table 4).
The license upgrade part number is specifically designed to allow you to enter the Cisco Dynamic Configuration
Tool (DCT) and create one license key when you are ordering multiple mailboxes or features. Order only one
top-level license upgrade part number, and then add multiple options using the next step.

you don’t have to order the upgrade license. You just need to contact the Cisco Global Licensing Organization
(GLO) at [email protected] to get the upgraded Version 10.x, 11.x, or 12.x licenses.
Migrations from Cisco Unity to Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Unity Connection
Version Upgrades
Customers upgrading from Cisco Unity or an earlier version of Cisco Unity Connection have two upgrade options,
depending on whether they have a Cisco Software Support Service (SWSS) or Cisco Unified Communications
Software Subscription (UCSS) agreement in place.
Note: When migrating from Cisco Unity to Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Unity license files cannot be imported
to Cisco Prime License Manager. Follow the instructions for the migration as defined in the Cisco Unity Connection
and Cisco Prime License Manager documentation.

Migrating or Upgrading if the Customer has a Current Cisco SWSS or UCSS Contract
Customers who have an existing SWSS or UCSS contract can order their upgrade through the Cisco Product
Upgrade Tool (PUT) using the appropriate product number.
This type of upgrade is a simple one-to-one upgrade: the customer simply is upgrading the existing user base and
system from an earlier version to a later version for the same number of users and with the same feature set.
Therefore, only the first step is necessary: selecting the top-level product part number.
To make changes such as adding users, migrating user licenses from basic to enhanced, or adding Cisco Speech
Connect or Cisco SpeechView licenses, the customer should complete the version upgrade or migration and then
follow the process described in the earlier section, Ordering Add-on Software Licenses for an Existing Deployment.
Note: The tables throughout this document display the part numbers for all versions of Cisco Unity Connection
that are orderable (not just the latest shipping version). Please check the description of each part number carefully
to help ensure that you order the correct version number.
Step 1. Select the top-level product part number (Table 7).
Table 7. Top-Level Version Upgrade Product Part Numbers
Part number Description List price ($US)
UCXN12-VER-UPG-K9= Upgrade from Unity Connection 2.x or later to Unity Connection version 12.x $0
UCXN12-UTYMIG-K9= Migration from Unity versions 4.x – 8.x to Unity Connection version 12.x $0
UCXN11-VER-UPG-K9= Upgrade from Unity Connection versions 1.x – 10.x to Unity Connection version 11.x $0
UCXN11-UTYMIG-K9= Migration from Unity versions 4.x – 8.x to Unity Connection version 11.x $0
UCXN10-VER-UPG-K9= Upgrade from Unity Connection versions 1.x – 9.x to Unity Connection version 10.x $0
UCXN10-UTYMIG-K9= Migration from Unity versions 4.x – 8.x to Unity Connection version 10x $0
Step 2. (Optional for Versions 10.x and 11.x only): Add the Encryption part number in Table 8 (as a separate line
item in the order) to turn on data plane encryption in the restricted Cisco Unity Connection 11.x or 10.x
versions (–K9 versions).
Note: To use data plane encryption capabilities with restricted Cisco Unity Connection 11.x or 10.x versions (–
K9 versions), you must order the part number listed in Table 8. When ordering the part number listed in Table 8,
you must use the end customer’s information (name, address, etc.) when placing the order. The end customer will
receive an Encryption PAK that, when installed on Cisco Prime License Manager, will allow restricted Cisco Unity
Connection 11.x or 10.x versions (–K9 versions) to have data plane encryption turned on (for example, when
integrating with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Mixed Mode security).
If the customer is using multiple instances of Cisco Prime License Manager in their network, you must order the
part number in Table 8 for each instance of License Manager in the network that will be supporting restricted Cisco
Unity Connection 11.x or 10.x versions (–K9 versions) that require data plane encryption (for example, when
integrating Cisco Unity Connection with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Mixed Mode security).
For example, if the customer has two instances of Cisco Prime License Manager, and they both will be supporting
the restricted Cisco Unity Connection 11.x version (–K9 version) with data plane encryption turned on (such as
SRTP), you should order CUC-PLM-ENC-K9= twice. This will provide the customer with two Encryption PAKs, one
for each instance of Cisco Prime License Manager in the network.
© 2017 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Confidential Information. Page 11 of 16
Note: Cisco Prime License Manager must be at Version 11.5 SU2 to recognize this new Encryption PAK.

After upgrading or migrating, customers can migrate Basic users to Enhanced users, add Cisco Speech Connect
ports and users, and add Cisco SpeechView user licenses by using the add-on (software license addition) process
described earlier in the section Ordering Add-on Software Licenses for an Existing Deployment.
If you are performing license migration for Cisco Unity, note that the migration of the Cisco Unity license file from
Cisco Unity to Cisco Unity Connection changed with Cisco Unity Connection Version 9.0(1). After receiving the
migration shipment, perform the following steps:
1. If you are installing Cisco Unity Connection on a new server, import the license information from Cisco Unity
using the Cisco Objected Backup and Restore Application Suite (COBRAS) tool.
2. Follow the process for migrating users on the Cisco Prime License Manager in which the Cisco Unity
Connection appliance is registered.
More detailed information about these steps can be found in the Cisco Unified Communications Licensing Guide.
If you have any problems with this migration, send an email message describing the issue to
Migrating or Upgrading if the Customer Does NOT have a Current Cisco SWSS or UCSS Contract
For a limited time, existing customers who are running an older version of Cisco Unity or Cisco Unity Connection
but do not have a current support and maintenance contract (SWSS or UCSS) can migrate or upgrade at reduced
prices through the Cisco Get Current – Stay Current program.
The Get Current – Stay Current program enables customers who have never purchased a software support and
maintenance contract (UCSS or SWSS) or who have allowed their contract to expire to start or reinstate their
contract with our current support and maintenance offering, SWSS, and thereby obtain an upgrade or migration at
a reduced price. The program consists of a set of SKUs that correspond to each Cisco Unified Communications
Manager license type. These must be purchased with a 1-year (minimum) SWSS contract to provide reinstatement
for the lapsed or never-purchased SWSS or UCSS contract.
The Get Current – Stay Current program is applicable only to the following versions:
● Cisco Unity Version 4.x and later
● Cisco Unity Connection Version 1.x and later
The Get Current – Stay Current program is not applicable to Cisco Unity Version 3.x and earlier systems.
For more information about the Get Current – Stay Current program, visit
https://communities.cisco.com/message/128756.
SWSS is Cisco’s software support and maintenance program. For more information about SWSS, please refer to
the Cisco migration scenarios guide at
https://www.cisco.com/web/partners/downloads/partner/WWChannels/promotions/download/cnms-guide.pdf.

Send questions about SWSS to [email protected].
Note: The tables throughout this document display the part numbers for all versions of Cisco Unity Connection
that are orderable (not just the latest version). Please check the description of each part number carefully to help
ensure that you order the correct version number.
Customers who are upgrading or migrating Cisco Unity or Cisco Unity Connection without a current SWSS or
UCSS contract should follow these steps.
Step 1. Select the top-level upgrade product part number (Table 9).

If you are performing license migration for Cisco Unity, note that the migration of the Cisco Unity license file from
Cisco Unity to Cisco Unity Connection changed with Cisco Unity Connection Version 9.0(1). After receiving the

using the COBRAS tool.
2. Follow the process for migrating users on the Cisco Prime License Manager in which the Cisco Unity
Connection appliance is registered.
More detailed information about these steps can be found in the Cisco Unified Communications Licensing Guide.

Cisco Capital Financing
The significant benefits offered by Cisco Unified Communications make it the natural choice to replace traditional
PBX systems. As with any technology investment, the affordability of the new system is a concern. The solution is
Cisco Capital® financing. Whether by providing flexible repayment matching expenditures to benefits, mitigating
cash-flow concerns, or negating capital expenditures with an operating lease, we can give your customers access
to the right unified communications technology for their business, when they need it.
Removing Sales Barriers
Typically, Cisco Capital can help remove or reduce the barriers preventing organizations from obtaining the
technology that can most benefit their businesses. Cisco Capital can:
● Remove cash-flow concerns, allowing a company to spread the cost of its investment over a number
of years
● Offer flexible repayment terms that match expenditures to benefits, meaning that payments can be timed to
coincide with business benefits that may be seen later in the project, or deferred to meet a company’s
budget cycle
● Turn capital expenditures into operating expenses through an operating lease that enables companies to
benefit from the residual value of the technology from the beginning
● Provide a sale and lease-back arrangement (where available) that softens the initial costs by taking on
existing commitments that may be attached to older equipment

Tips for taking Advantage of Financing to Accelerate and Close More Business
● Consider financing early in the deal cycle. This step will save time later and help get you paid faster.
● Get your customer preapproved for a credit line with Cisco Capital. By showing customers they can afford
more than they thought they could, you can pave the way early for increasing the deal size. You should do
this as early as possible in the customer discussions and deal cycle.
● Provide a lease quote with every proposal. You can do this by contacting your local Cisco Capital team.
In some markets, web-based tools also are available so you can quickly generate your own lease quotes.
