Computer Information Systems Inc.

Information technology business that provides design, implementation and support for servers, workstations, security systems, data and phone networks.

 My position was stated as a level 1 technician.

Patch panel is labeled according to the ports

Each port on the patch panel is connected to a switch by another cord.

Router to Switch

Routes information between switches.

Resets the hop count

Information jumping from switch to switch is a hop

Hubs included in a hop

Firewall to Router

Firewall sits between internal and external networks.

Controls the flow of information between the two networks.

DNS

Domain Name System translates humanly meaningful names into numerical identifiers for network equipment.

Every domain has to have one.

Redundancy

Having backup equipment installed so that in the event that one device fails another can take over instantaneously.

Wireless Mesh

A wireless communication network made up of many nodes that act as a single node.

Each node establishes a connection with another node wirelessly.

DVR Capture & Storage

A Digital Video Recorder controls when and how footage is captured and stored.

An eye opener

Experience that can not be found in the class room.
