    Circular No 280/2011 Dated 25 Nov 2011

Forum on the EnvironmentForum on the Environmentorum on the Environment

It is a well-founded principle that development, in terms ofsocial advancement and standards of living, imports asustainability component. The price that non-sustainabledevelopment exact on the environment may not be a viableoption when viewed on the context of public health and

    inter-generational responsibility.

Issues of adverting dangers of an environmental fallout fromradioactive waste disposal place a high premium on the safetyfocus. But how safe is safe? Or do we need to become adumping site for radioactive waste in the name ofdevelopment? Or are there issues of environmental rights andlegal principles of prior and informed consent of those affected,to contend with? Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP)presents a context in the public domain to grapple and engageon these issues.

We invite you to join the speakers in an evening discourse onthis aspect of environmental issue that has of late been an area

of concern to Malaysians at large.
