SOLAR SYSTEM FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTRE What’s going on? Between showers, you may have noticed some new equipment on the roof of the Community Centre. The Comboyne Community Association has received funding through the Public Facilities Program (PFP), NSW Climate Change Fund, Department of Environment and Climate Change. With the assistance of Ged McCarthy, Energy and Space Solutions, we are installing photovoltaic solar panels and other energy efficient equipment. It will be a 5kw grid connected solar system that will provide for the Centre energy requirements and, at times, supply excess ‘green’ energy to the grid. We will also install energy efficient lighting and equipment. Our aim is to reduce energy demand and associated greenhouse gas emissions, reduce demand in peak periods and supply excess ‘green’ energy to the grid. We aim to establish the Comboyne Community Centre as a demonstration site for saving energy and reducing carbon emissions. The local community, visitors to the region, students, and business and government agencies will be invited to visit the Centre and learn about relevant skills, energy saving methods and technologies. Enquires about the project please contact Marg at the Community Centre. Members of the public from all over the Hastings are being invited to contribute their thoughts and ideas at the one-day forum being held next month.
