Highlights
AI/Machine Learning & 5G Technology
Use of AI/ML projects is quite high In India (and significantly higher than in Australia or the US), with significant incorporation of AI/ML into all company functions. Over half of organisations think that 5G will have a major impact on their organisation, with higher agreement among Indian CIOs.
Hiring
Organisations expect that COVID-19 will impact hiring plans for the year, although a significant number of IT teams (especially in India) plan to hire this year.
Planned Investment
Half of organisations say that the COVID-19 crisis has limited their planned investments, but cyber security, AI/ML, and public cloud remain top priorities for a significant number of organisations.
CIO Response to COVID-19
All organisations surveyed have been significantly impacted by COVID-19, with 67% of organisations seeing a direct impact on their customer facing activities. CIOs faced challenges in helping their teams communicate effectively and having the right technology.
Most organisations were able to quickly implement plans to react to the health crisis but are only in early stage planning for post-COVID business. Despite this, CIOs are optimistic about their organisation’s ability to find success in the post-COVID economy.
Cyber Security
Cyber security investment is prevalent in the planning for many organisations (including increasing headcount) and this continues even after COVID-19 related disruptions. This is not surprising, considering that 8 in 10 organisations experienced some form of security attack in the past year.
