The CIO of the Year Award has the aim to give recognition to the best performing CIO in that year. The performance aspects being measured entails IT-performance, IT-agility and project peformance/attractiveness. Not only the performance aspects will be of importance. This years subject of the election is: “Being creative during the crisis.” So today’s CIO has to make a difference and has to see the current circumstances as an opportunity. From this perspective the more personal profile of the CIO will be measured in terms of leadership, vision and culture within the company.

This years Award will be presented on the CIO Day 2009 on the 17th of November 2009 by HRH Prince Bernhard van Oranje-Nassau.

Selection process and criteria CIO of the Year Award 2009.Of course The CIO of the Year Award 2009 is based on a well founded criteria process.The process and criteria have been developed over the past four years together with:• CIO Platform Nederland (CIO platform of top 100 organizations in NL)• CIO Magazine• Research organisations: The Hackett Group and Qhuba

The process and criteria are published in CIO Magazine.

In order to be nominated for the Award, we kindly ask your cooperation to confirm your participation by entering the Award process via the online survey. Depending on your results of the questionnaire you will be invited to participate as nominee for the CIO of the Year Award 2009.

CIO of the Year Award 2009 processThe CIO of the year Award process is a well founded process which entails several criteria.For the performance aspect of the CIO of the Year Award, The Hackett Group created several questions which measures IT-performence, IT-agility and project performance/attractiveness. For measuring the more personal profile of the CIO in terms of leadership, vision, people management and more, Ebbinge & Company conducted several questions. Of course the whole criteria process is in cooperation with CIO Magazine and CIO Platform Nederland.

The CIO of the Year Award 2009 process entails the following steps1. Pre-selection of a total of 100 pre-nominees

2. Invitation of the 100 nominees to participate at a pre-nomination selection round

3. Invitation nominees to cooperate at an in depth web questionnaire

4. Results of the web questionnaire will be measured and ranked by The Hackett Group on the performance scale and by Qhuba on the personal scale

5. The top 10 nominees will be chosen based on the received results of the web questionnaire and the Jury will be informed and advised

6. Personal validation interviews with top 10 nominees by The Hackett Group and Qhuba

7. CIO Magazine will interview and publish an article on the top 10 nominees

8. Jury will invite the top 5 nominees for a meeting on October 12th, 2009

9. Jury will elect the CIO of the Year 2009

10. The CIO of the Year Award will be presented by HRH Prince Bernhard van Oranje-Nassau (Chairman of the Jury) on the CIO Day 2009, November 17th

11. The CIO of the Year 2009 will be on the cover of CIO Magazine edition November-December and the final election feedback will be publised in this edition as well

The CIO of the Year Award 2009 will be presented on the CIO Day 2009, which takes place on the 16th (afternoon/evening program) and 17th of November this year. The CIO Day is the largest and most successful event in The Netherlands for CIO’s and IT Executives.

With in the afternoon of the 16th of November a pre-conference program for the top of the IT Community.

The program entails exclusive master classes with international leading speakers and guests.

The afternoon program is followed by an exclusive and “on invitation only” CIO VIP Diner with the auction CharITy (led by Auction House Christie’s) and an informal celebration with entertainment in our special created lounge.
