CinePlex ® arena with camera and screen capture of CinePlex ® Studio Features CinePlex ® Studio Features Video capture synchronized with neural recordings from the Plexon OmniPlex ® and MAP™ data acquisition systems Standard video .avi files in MPEG format Online and offline position tracking Four camera recording capability Compatible with serveral cameras, including AVT™ Stingray (VGA, up to 80 fps) and AVT™ Pike (VGA, up to 200 fps) cameras Real-time behavioral statistics - time spent in user-defined zones, average velocity, head direction, etc. Event creation when (i) animal enters/exits user- defined zones or combinations of zones, or (ii) cer- tain behavioral statistics reach specified levels Event-triggered digital output capability Three methods for real-time animal position tracking: body contour, colored LEDs on headset, and reflective color markers Recording of contour motion across adjacent video frames to detect freezing behavior in fear-conditioning experiments Encoded position data is available to online user-written programs Selectable image quality setting Stand-alone operation (independent from Plexon data acquisition systems) with external start/stop and clock output to synchronize with external behavioral equipment CinePlex ® Editor Features Integrated viewing of neural data files (Plexon .plx, NeuroExplorer .nex) and .avi files Full digital video recorder (DVR) playback capabilities Display of tracking position data overlaid on video Video-aided insertion of event markers and intervals Removal of temporal segments of neural data during artifact-generating behaviors (chewing, grooming, etc.) Ability to edit position data from CinePlex Studio, and manually enter new coordinates Seek and search based on event markers Save neural data to Plexon (.plx) and NeuroExplorer ® (.nex) files, or export to Excel ® , MATLAB ® , or text files Reads MJPEG and MPEG files Description CinePlex is a digital video recording, position tracking, and file editing tool that synchronizes video capture with Plexon neural data files. The synchronized video, tracking coordinates, and neural data can then be viewed offline, where behavioral CinePlex ® Digital Video Recording and Tracking System event markers and time-interval variables can be inserted. The modified data file can be exported for further analysis. CinePlex consists of CinePlex Studio and CinePlex Editor. CinePlex ® Studio. CinePlex Studio is combination of hardware and software that records video in synchrony with neural data collection and generates real-time tracking coordinates and events. Video files can be imported into CinePlex Studio for offline position tracking and behavioral analyses. Up to 5 colors may be tracked. CinePlex Studio can also track objects in pre-recorded video files off-line. CinePlex ® Editor. CinePlex Editor is an integrated video and neural data file playback program with editing functionality. Operation With OmniPlex ® and MAP™ Systems, or Stand- alone. CinePlex Studio can be used in conjunction with the Plexon OmniPlex ® and Multichannel Acquisition Processor (MAP™) systems. CinePlex Studio processor receives and processes raw video from up to four Firewire cameras. CinePlex compresses and stores the captured video on the hard drive as an .avi file. The Plexon data acquisition systems signal the CinePlex processor unit to start, stop, pause, and resume recording video to the .avi file. The Plexon data acquisition
