Cigar is a tightly rolled bundle of dried and fermented tobacco.

The word CIGAR originated from the Spanish CIGARRO, which in turn probably derives from the Mayan SICAR (“to smoke rolled tobacco leaves”).

Cigar is made up of three types of Tobacco leaves.

Fillers – broken or crushed leaves which forms the centre of cigar

Binders- small leaves are bound around the filler and a special type of glue is used to bind these leaves in cigar

Wrappers- big leaves that are soft & elastic wrapped to give the final smooth surface

All cigars can be divided into two categories:

Parejos - Straight Sided Cigars

Figurados - Irregular Shapes

They have a cylindrical body,straight sides,one end open, anda round tobacco-leaf "cap" on the other end which must be sliced off,have a V-shaped notch made in it with a special cutter,or punched through before smoking.

Since the wrapper is the only part of the cigar

wholly seen by the smoker, it makes sense that

cigars would be graded and referenced by their

wrapper (capa) color.
