• New charging scheme for desk telephones– Everyone pays– Call costs more closely match what we pay– Rental per extension number– Back dated to Aug 2009

• Future savings passed onto user departments

Upgrade to IP Telephony

• May 2008 – core and connections to local nodes over IP network

• Resilience, expansion, future proofing• Retained digital/analogue phones until we

decided how best to roll out IP solutions• More recent developments (more later)

Why IPT?

• Resilience & Expansion• Closer integration of voice application and

other services (more later, fingers-crossed)• Saving on cabling (and related infrastructure)• Saving on power (and kit to provide it)• Mobility/off-site working• Moves and changes simpler
