Preliminary DesignOur preliminary design servicehelps to determine thefeasibility of a microwavenetwork. Preliminary designincorporates validating pathprofiles and path feasibility aswell as analyzing siteinventory to locate potentialsites in GIS format. Thepreliminary design typicallyinvolves mapping all siteoptions and determiningpotential microwave pathsusing Pathloss 4 software to view path profiles.

CIC uses one arc second terrain data whenever it is available and owns mostavailable data throughout North and South America. Unlike three arc secondterrain data used by other companies, one arc second data reflects datapoints used by the USGS 7.5 Topographic mapping department. With higherresolution, path profiles are much more reliable, eliminating rework in theengineering phase. The preliminary design can help us determine the mostefficient use of all feasible paths using the customer’s sites or any availablesite in the region.

Microwave RF EngineeringWhen it comes to RF Engineering, precision is key. Our field path surveyingteams employ the use of Differential GPS data-collecting equipment, withcentimeter accuracy -- the most accurate in the world -- to ensure systemdesign. CIC Transmission engineers have performed thousands of path surveysthroughout North and South America. CIC will analyze the microwave pathand identify all ranges of MW beam propagation characteristics, multipath,refractions, diffraction, and reflections.

Antenna configurations and optimum placement are analyzed to ensureminimal propagation losses. When CIC conducts microwave path engineeringand installation, the microwave reliability is guaranteed to pass performancespecifications.
