Churro Recipe Recipe adapted from Allrecipes 1 cup water 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 cup all-purpose flour approx. 4 cups of oil, enough for frying 1/2 cup white sugar, or to taste 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon A block of your favourite meltable chocolate optional Fresh Strawberries optional 1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball. 2. Let the dough rest for about 15mins in the fridge so it’s easier to pipe. 3. Heat oil for frying in deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). 4. Add one third of the dough into a piping bag*, pipe strips of dough and have them lined up ready for deep frying. Repeat for the other two thirds of the dough. 5. Add one strip at a time to avoid sticking and fry until golden, drain on paper towels. 6. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture. 7. Melt chocolate and cut up the strawberries. Serve with the churros hot. *I use the disposable piping bags in the baking section of the supermarket. For around $3.00 you can buy the Multix brand which includes 5 bags, 4 nozzles and coupler. I use the star nozzle with the eight points for a more crispy edge. http://littlemissbacon.com/2011/11/homemade-episode-home-made-churros/
