Pastor Mary Anne’s Message:

“Pastor when are we getting back to worship inside the church”? “When will it be nor-mal again?”

We will get back inside very soon, but there will be some major changes with how that will look and feel. (see more below) As to the normal part, that may be quite a while, if not ever. But do not despair; the Church will adapt. In fact, the Church has been through this all before!

The most recent time was in the early 20th Century with the Spanish Influenza Pan-demic. Changes were incorporated into the Church for many years following that event. If we go back further in time the church experienced epidemics of Diphtheria, Typhoid Fever, and other life threatening diseases that we today only think about when we receive a vaccination or inoculation. The Middle and Dark Ages decimated many Church communities with the Plague.

Why the history lesson? To reassure you and me that God’s Church is strong, that God works in the midst of change and upheaval to work and birth new things. Of course we mourn what used to be, but let us reminded that God works through change to bring us new birth and new life!

We have seen that in our Parking Lot Worship. We have had many visitors to this ser-vice who have returned week after week. Although we cannot see everyone in the Parking Lot we still sense community as we receive Holy Communion and beep our car horns for the final dismissal!

We continually try to improve our online Worship experience for you. We are discover-ing that Zoom meetings are attractive for our committees after a long day, when you can stay at home and join in the work of the church!

Thank you for your patience and your willingness to try new things during this time! Although we have a smaller Sanctuary that makes safer indoor worship more challeng-ing than other churches, we have an ample parking lot we could utilize during this time. Your continued support is crucial as we enter into a new year that will hopefully be a much better year for everyone!

In Christ,

Pastor Mary Anne

(from Page 3) The Church Council has formed a subgroup to look at our worship oppor-tunities. The Committee has met twice. Discussion has centered around schedules, services indoors and outdoors, and guidelines for indoor wor-ship. Recognizing that guidelines are constantly in flux and that a surge of Covid cases is expected, this is a tentative proposal which will go before Church Council:

Worship indoors will start December 6th. Based upon survey results we will also continue outdoor (Parking Lot) worship as well as online worship. This will give members three options for worship. 9:00 am –Parking Lot Worship 9:45 am – Indoor Worship (park in small lot) Online Worship (anytime)

The following guidelines will apply to indoor worship: Anyone who is ill or experiencing any symptoms of Covid, including cough-ing, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, digestive issues should not at-tend. Anyone over the age of 65 or who has any underlining pre-existing condi-tion, including but not limited to lung issues, diabetes, heart disease, breathing issues, auto immune conditions, should not attend indoor wor-ship. (Will worship at own risk) Temperatures will be taken upon entry to the church. A mask MUST be worn over the nose and mouth for the entire time. If you are unable to wear a mask we ask that you attend worship outdoors or online. Social distancing between family groups will occur. Seating will be socially distanced. An usher will guide you to your seat (from front to back) and dismiss you at the end of the service (from back to front). The Service will be similar to the parking lot worship, but with NO singing. Seating will be limited. If the Sanctuary becomes full, you may be seated in the Fellowship Hall. Hand sanitizers will be used upon entrance and exit of the Church. Ushers will wipe down handrails during the service. You will receive a bulletin and Communion elements when you are seated. Communion will occur in your pew.

Members of the Subgroup are Pastor Mary Anne, Dan Lenox, Brittney Kauffman, Ronda Knighton, Mike Dietrich and Rose Gallagher.

Ministry Highlights

We continue our monthly thanks and appreciation. This month we are highlighting the “Property Guys”! Cheers to those who have headed or served on the Property Committee! Past chairs of the committee include Chuck Lehman, Ken Houck and Gene Walter, and Bob Castleman. Our current chairs are Mike Dietrich and Ed Fisher.

Serving on property is a labor of love as there is always something that needs fixed. As soon as you think all is well, something stops working or breaks. The Property Committee also takes care of routine maintenance, like draining the boiler and sopping up flooded floors. We have an aging building and grounds to care for and they often respond to frantic calls at all hours!

Gene Walter oversees the Cemetery and deals with all the issues concern-ing the lots and opening of graves. He also personally digs the burial spots for cremains, sometimes through frozen or rocky ground!

Please personally thank all those who keep our building and grounds in good shape! Thanks to everyone who has helped them on specific projects or issues as well!

Thank You All!!

November 1 is the last day Concordia will be collect-

ing children’s books for the School Library in Kupang,

Timor, Indonesia. If you have any questions, please

call Carol McDonald, 717-487-0542 or stop by her car

on Sunday morning. Thank you Concordia for your generosity in this pursuit.

CROP WALK- Ending Hunger One Step at a Time!! Thank you to all who contributed or walked.

Thanks to you we raised $400.!!
