EASTER THANK YOU Our Sanctuary was beautifully decorated for Easter this year with Easter Lilies, Azaleas and Mums. Many thanks to the Flower Committee and to our maintenance staff for making our church so beautiful. We are also grateful to the Adult Choir, to Joe Viserta our Music Director, to Joe Demo and our Ushers, Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors. Also many thanks to our wonderful priests, Msgr. O’Donnell, Fr. Jon, Fr. Epi, and the Sacristans. Christ is Risen! Joyous Blessings to our wonderful parishioners during this Easter Season! ******************************* AGING GRACEFULLY CONFERENCE

There will be an Aging Gracefully Conference, Wednesday, May 8th at 9:30 am in the Nielsen Room. The topic will be “Taking a Stand.” Light refreshments will be served.

PREP NEWS The PREP would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many PREP families who donated books to the Book Drive for the Resurrection Parish Community Day of Service Project. The books were enjoyed by many young children at Don Bosco in Port Chester. Thank you also to the many Confirmation candidates who volunteered to read to students and to fill many other important roles on that day.

DIAPER AND BABY ITEMS COLLECTION

May is the month of Mary and this year we are celebrating the Blessed Mother Mary and all mothers by reaching out to young mothers in need. For two weekends, May 11th and 12th, Mother’s Day weekend, and May 18th and 19th, the Outreach Committee will be collecting boxes of diapers, baby wipes and new baby clothes/blankets etc. in St. Joseph’s chapel at the front of the church. These much needed items will be distributed to families through our sister parish Holy Rosary, and Good Counsel Daystar home. Please donate diapers of all sizes, baby wipes and new layette items for these young mothers. Share the joy of Motherhood and thank you for your continued generosity and support.

APRIL 28TH DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

In 1931, Jesus appeared to St. Faustina and asked that the Sunday after Easter become the “Feast of Mercy.” Jesus promised that anyone who honors him as King of Mercy

and prays the Chaplet of Divine Mercy – the prayer he gave St. Faustina – would receive special graces and great mercy. *******************************

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER April 28, 2019

“Many signs and wonders were done among the people at the hands of the apostles. They were all together in Solomon’s portico. None of the others dared to join them, but the people esteemed them. Yet more than ever, believers in the Lord, great numbers of men and women, were added to them.” The story of the early church, as related in the Acts of the Apostles, not only records what happened, but motivates us today, to continue the apostolic work. We sometimes fail to see that our hands are the hands of the apostles, or even the hands of Christ working in our world today. Do you remember the story of the reconstructed chapel destroyed by bombs in Europe? American GIs restored almost everything, but a shattered statue of the Sacred Heart lacked fingers and hands. They wisely placed a sign in front of the icon reading ‘I have no hands but yours.’ We are the hands of the Lord, because we are baptized, missionary disciples. A kind word, a gracious invitation, a gentle reminder of the love of Jesus to one who is hurting or lonely, can restore the church in the heart of someone. Reach out! Today, the Spirit of God asks us to hit the streets and find those seeking, waiting and yearning for God’s gift.
