A CHURCH OF MINISTERS(Selected scriptures)

INTRODUCTION

The ideal church is a" church of ministers.”

WEBSTER

• To minister means "To give aid or service."

• A minister is somebody who serves.

• Anyone who serves is a minister.

PASTORS ARE CHOSEN

(Ephesians 4:11-13 (NLT)

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.

PARADIGM SHIFT

GOAL OF OUR SALVATION

(Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. [9] Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. [10] For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

From the beginning, God has a task for us to do.

EARLY CHURCH EXAMPLE

(Acts 8:4 (NLT)

But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they the early church was equipped to do the task God expects the church to do?

(Ephesians 4:11-12 (NLT)

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. [12] Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

A. CHURCH ATTENDANCE & ENCOURAGEMENT

(Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

B. RESTORING A BACKSLIDDEN CHRISTIAN

(James 5:19-20 (NLT)

My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back,

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

[20] you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins. When we see a fellow believer fell into sin, instead of judging him, we should pray that God will make us His instrument to lead that believer back to God.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

C. PRAY FOR MISSIONS

(Luke 10:2 (NLT)

These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

D. PRAY FOR THE GOVERNMENT

(1 Timothy 2:2 (NLT)

[2] Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

E. PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

(James 5:16 (NLT)

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

E. PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

(Proverbs 17:22 (NLT)

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

E. PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

(Matthew 5:23-24 (NLT)

"So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, [24] leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

E. PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

(Philippians 4:2 (NLT)

Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

F. LOVE ONE ANOTHER

(John 15:12,17 (NLT)

This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. [17] This is my command: Love each other.

To love does not always mean to like.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

G. SUPPORT THE CHURCH FINANCIALLY

(Malachi 3:10 (NLT)

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the Lord of Heaven's Armies, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

H. PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR

(Romans 15:30 (NLT)

Dear brothers and sisters, I urge you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to join in my struggle by praying to God for me. Do this because of your love for me, given to you by the Holy Spirit.

Make your pastor feel that you love him.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

H. PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR(Hebrews 13:17 (NLT)

Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

H. PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR

(Exodus 18:17-22 (NLT)

"This is not good!" Moses' father-in-law exclaimed. [18] "You're going to wear yourself out-and the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself. [19] Now listen to me, and let me give you a word of advice, and may God be with you. You should continue to be the people's representative before God, bringing their disputes to him.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

[20] Teach them God's decrees, and give them his instructions. Show them how to conduct their lives. [21] But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten.

EVERY BELIEVER'S

TASK

[22] They should always be available to solve the people's common disputes, but have them bring the major cases to you. Let the leaders decide the smaller matters themselves. They will help you carry the load, making the task easier for you.

THE STAR FOR ALL SEASONS

(Your pastor is virtually on-call 24/7.)

CONCLUSION

I. WE ARE A BODY

CONCLUSION

(Romans 12:4-5 (NLT)

Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, [5] so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

CONCLUSION

(1 Corinthians 12:12 (NLT)

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.

Not all are called to be a PASTOR but every

Christian is called to be a MINISTER!
