Church & Home Commitments Dear Parent, Church & Home is Ingleside’s cradle-to-college spiritual discipleship plan for families. It fits perfectly into Ingleside’s overall discipleship strategy which calls followers of Christ to Come to worship, Grow in a group, Serve in the body, and Go with the gospel. Church & Home is largely based on the legacy principle found in Psalm 78:6-7 which says, “…that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.” Though written to the Jewish people, we can understand, in a Christian context, that God desires us to lead our children to become fully devoted followers of Christ, that is, to leave a legacy of faith. Church & Home is a compilation of biblical guidance, events, resources, books, and practical parenting tips. The accompanying commitment is just one way that we think families can deepen their spiritual roots. This commitment is for your own personal use and is not required in any way. It is one of five different commitments we offer through the stages of Church & Home. Here are a few ideas about how to utilize them: Hold a special ceremony at your house complete with dressy attire and a fine dinner. Sign it in the presence of your small group for the purposes of accountability. Take your child on a special trip and walk through the commitments together. Frame your commitments and hang them in a prominent location. Over the years, you’ll have a preserved spiritual legacy that you can pass on to your children decades from now. Create a spiritual scrapbook, including these commitments, to give your child when he or she graduates from high school. Develop your own unique way to celebrate these Spirit-led commitments. The second page contains the commitment for the Welcome to the World stage. Should you want a professionally printed version on high quality paper, we can provide that for you upon your request. We are grateful for your partnership. We hope that Ingleside can be a place for your family to flourish for years to come. May the Lord bless you as you lead your children to know and love Jesus! In Christ, The Next Generation Team

A COMMITMENT TO

A s a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe that God is good and wise, and that all of His ways and commands are for the good of His people (John 15:10–11). It is my desire,

therefore, to “keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes” (II Kings 23:3). As a response to the divine love poured out on me through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, I pledge to make the following commitments to the Lord and my child:

1. I will recognize my child, not as my own possession, but as a gift from the Lord.2. I will pursue personal holiness and growth in Christ on a daily basis.3. I will pray daily for my family.4. I will lead my children to know and love God’s Word.5. I will release my child to be used to the glory of God and for the good of others.6. I will create an environment in my home which demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit of Christ.7. I will discipline in ways that communicate the gospel and biblical principles.8. I will maintain an active life in a local body of believers and present the bride of Christ

to my child as a glorious blessing.
