Italian Study Abroad

Students are encouraged to participate in the Junior Year Abroad Program at the University of Bologna, the oldest university in Europe. Cosponsored by UW-Madison and Indiana University, the program is not limited to Italian majors. Students interested in language, literature, art, history, music, international relations and political science will benefit from the experience of studying and living in one of the major cultural centers of Europe.A unique feature of this study abroad program is that, following an orientation period focusing on Italian language skills, culture, and history, participants attend courses at the University of Bologna with Italian students. They thus have ample opportunity to speak Italian and to gain first-hand knowledge about Italian life and culture.

Students may earn 30 or more credits on this 9-month program.
