THE PARISH AS ONE BODY “If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended… The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I do not need you,’ nor again the head to the feet, ‘I do not need you.’ Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary . Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. “ (1 Cor. 12:17-25)

50 WEEKS OF PRAYER DURING OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR
Although October 7th, the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary has passed, it is still worth our while to recall that October is the Month of the Holy Rosary. October 7th is the Happy Feast of Rosary Academy our good neighbor up the hill! May your patroness, Mother Mary, look after you and your alumnae! Please know of our prayers and good wishes for you as you continue the mis-sion of Catholic education; to make the Kingdom of God known by the presence of your graduates in our community. As your graduates are converted to the Word of God and practice the compas-sion of Mary, Rosary Academy is a success and a gift in our Church. Fact is, you’ve been a bless-ing for fifty years. We pray you have many more years! Happy Feast and Happy Anniversary, Rosary Academy, from the St. Juliana Community!
The Feast of Our Lady of The Rosary, also known as Our Lady of Victory, allows us to remember the rosary, Mother Mary, and victory in battle. The feast was instituted to commemorate the victory
of Christianity at the battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. The victory was brought about through the devout recitation of the Holy Rosary.
History traces the rosary of the Dominican Friars as a development of the Medieval Period. The Dominicans are a group of friars; brothers and priests living in community. The rosary was prayed by the religious brothers who were not ordained nor were many educated or lit-erate. These brothers lived in community however since many could not read, they could not pray the Divine Office, a manner of reciting the 150 psalms. The complete rosary sub-stituted 150 “Hail Marys” for the psalms. Later the rosary was divided into decade group-ings, recalling the joys, sorrows, and glories of the life of Jesus and Mary. Pope Pius XII remarked: “The Rosary is a compendium of the entire Gospel.” (The “Servite Rosary” is a devotion of the Servite Community with a devotion to Mary’s Sorrows.)
Pope St. John Paul II called the rosary his favorite prayer as it allowed him time for medication and reflection on the mysteries of our salvation. He added the five Luminous Mysteries to the rosary in 2002 which brought the total number of Hail Marys to 200!
October 13 is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. We recall that the Blessed Virgin Mary urged Catholics to pray the Ro-sary frequently in order to bring about the conversion of sinners and a lasting world peace.
Many of us grew up praying the rosary as a family. The students are taught the rosary in our school. Pray it together at least once. If not the rosary, pray some prayers as a family recalling the goodness of the Lord and Blessed Mary to you and all families. Pray for God’s peace for every land and every one. Pray for rain and the wisdom to use God’s resources wisely. Pray God’s blessings on our parish community during its Jubilee Year.

SECOND COLLECTION INFORMATION October 10 / 11—St Juliana School
October 17 / 18—World Mission Sunday World Mission Sunday, organized by the Propagation of the Faith, is a day set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit themselves to the Church's missionary activity through prayer and sacrifice.
Annually, World Mission Sunday is celebrated on the next-to-last Sunday in October. As described by Pope John Paul II, World Mis-sion Sunday is "an important day in the life of the Church because it teaches how to give: as an offering made to God, in the Eucharistic celebration and for all the missions of the world" (see Redemptoris Missio 81).
Pope John Paul II has also spoken of the Propagation of the Faith's General Fund of support, calling this a "central fund of solidarity." In a message delivered on a recent World Mission Sunday, the Pope said: "The offerings that will be collected [on World Mission Sun-day] are destined for a common fund of solidarity distributed, in the Pope's name, by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith among the missions and missionaries of the entire world."
Thank you for supporting our mission collection next weekend.

CHOC WALK - TO SUPPORT SCHOOL FAMILIES
The CHOC Walk is on Sunday, October, 11, 2015 at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
Upon arriving at the Disneyland® Resort, you are greeted with all the magic and wonder of The Happiest Place on Earth.
Two teams have been formed (Team Mia and Team Luke) from the
St. Juliana Community to honor and celebrate two students in treatment at CHOC Hospital.
The CHOC Walk is a time when families express their thanks to the
doctors and nurses that cared for their children, and share their memories with other families.
FYI: Every participant who registers to walk must have their own email address. This is for the CHOC system to give each person
their own identity and for prizes for future events.
For additional information please go to the St. Juliana School website under News and Announcements.
October 22, 2015
On October 22, 2015, Saint Juliana School Students will participate in the annual Jog-A-Thon challenge and fundraiser. This event promotes physical fitness for our children, while also creating a fun way to raise money for our school. The children train for this event as part of their physical fitness pro-gram, and are encouraged to run as many laps as they can!
The theme for our event this year is, “Ask Jesus what He wants from you, and BE BRAVE!” Thus, the students are asked to dedi-cate their laps to someone who inspires them to “Be Brave” when they feel like giving up or have a difficult decision to make.
Prizes, donations, and pledges are greatly appreciated!
Please contact Katy Batty [email protected] if you would like to help support this event!
Thank You to our generous 2015 Jog-A-Thon sponsor Saint Jude Medical Center.
